Judith Elizabeth Evans, 86, of Lebanon, NJ, died peacefully on December 24, 2022 with her sons at her side.

Born August 29, 1936, she was the daughter of Philomena and Joseph Oswald of Scranton, PA. Judith attended St. Mary's High School in Scranton and went on to get her nursing degree at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years with assignments at Mercy Hospital, Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ, Raritan Valley Hospital in Green Brook, NJ, and Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Judith later went on to get an additional degree from Upsala College.

Loving wife of George Francis Evans, Sr., who passed away in 2014, they raised four children in Dunellen, NJ: George, Christopher, Mary and Joseph. Judith was active in Dunellen at St. John's grammar school and at St. Pius X High School and Immaculata High School. She was a member of the Dunellen Craft Club and was active as a Cub Scout Den Mother, in the local CYO and supported youth sports at her children's schools. She enjoyed cooking, barbecuing and family dinners on Sunday. Later in life, Judith cared for her mother, "Nana," for many years in their Dunellen home. In retirement, Judith and George moved to Womelsdorf, PA, where they truly enjoyed their new community and friends.

Some of her favorite days were Kentucky Derby Day when a big Scranton crowd came down to watch the horses and, ironically, Christmas Eve, the day of her passing, a tradition at her home for many, many years. She was a dedicated Catholic who was devoted to the Pope and Catholic education.

Judith leaves behind son George, wife Jamie and granddaughters Lauren and Jenna; son Chris, wife Jen and granddaughters, Brittany, Kirsten and Samantha; daughter Mary, husband Matt and grandchildren Caitlin, Evan and Morgan; and son Joe, wife Gina and grandsons Ryan and Will.

A private service will be held at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street Flemington, NJ, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow, PA. There are no calling hours.
