Judith Gagnon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2024.
Judith "Judy" Gagnon born on July 30th 1948, passed peacefully surrounded by love on September 24th, 2024.

Daughter to John and Antonette Kocsis. Little sister to John (Cathy) Kocsis. Wife to adoring husband, Craig Gagnon. Fiercely loving mother to Eric (Colleen) Gagnon and Joanna (Max) Gagnon Pearson and Nana to Connor and Aidan.

Judy grew up in the Placerdale neighborhood of Chicago. Her childhood was surrounded by family and filled with adventures with her brother and cousins. Judy attended St. Catherine of Genoa, Mercy High School and Chicago State where she received her Bachelor's in Education.

Craig and Judy had 52 years of marriage (nearly 56 years together). They met in an art class, then having a long courtship and engagement due to Craig being in the Air Force. On September 23rd, 1972, the adoring couple married. Together they had two children Eric and Joanna. Eric gave them the gift of becoming grandparents (Nana and Papa) to two amazing children, Connor and Aidan.

Judy had the deepest, strongest love for family, all of her family. Her family was not just family by blood or marriage, it was by love.

She was a lover of the arts, both visual and performing, having a great appreciation of art, theater, musicals and classical music. Judy taught for 30 years, spending the majority of her career as an Art Teacher in School District 148. Over her many years of being an art teacher, she helped bring beauty and creativity into children's lives. Additionally, she wasn't just an art teacher, she was also a talented artist who loved art in so many mediums.

Judy was known for her cooking and baking. She would gladly share her recipes with others, and some say they just couldn't make things like her.

Judy has been reunited with her son, Eric, and all of the people who she has loved that have gone before her.
