Judith Jennings Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 11 to Jun. 13, 2022.
Judith Irene "Judi" Jennings, age 78, of Newberg, Oregon, passed away on Friday, May 20th, 2022, with her loving husband, children and much of her family by her side.

Born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on April 28th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Henry Paul Haladay and Mary Catherine (LeBlanc) Haladay and was raised in Wakefield, MA, along with her two brothers Edward and Robert.

Judi graduated from Wakefield High School in 1962. More than forty years later, in 2003, she graduated magna cum laude from Stonehill College, in Massachusetts, with a BA in Psychology, where she was also the valedictorian of the night school division.

She was married on August 2nd, 1974, in Massachusetts to the man of her dreams, Ralph Dean Jennings. Dean has been the absolute love of her life, her best friend and constant companion. Together they raised three children, two daughters, Victoria (Strong) and Rebekah (Meadows), and son, Paul.

Judi was a woman of incredible talents. Like her desire to go back to school to earn her college degree, when she did something she put everything into it. Starting when she was a young woman, she became well known for her musical abilities across a range of genres. Over the years she sang in numerous musical groups, choirs, and solos. She was also an incredible artist with an ability that seemed to have no bounds. She painted, sculpted, carved wood and stone and enjoyed all forms of craft and handiwork. Her love, compassion, and ability to see and find beauty in all things lives on in the works of art that she has shared with so many.

In her later years, she and Dean began making jams, jellies, pickles of all sorts and almost anything else that could be pickled or jarred. She had a knack for creating things that were delicious. Which, "delicious", was one of her favorite words. Almost everything that they made together came from what they grew together in their backyard. Judi truly had a green thumb. Every Christmas, you could expect to get jam and pickles along with one of her beautiful hats, scarves, or blankets that she crocheted.

Judi is known in many ways: Wife, Mom, Nana, Great Nana, and loving Friend. She will be dearly missed by her husband, children, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brothers, extended family, and many dear and close friends. Among her circle of friends includes those from her childhood in Wakefield that she stayed in regular contact with, friends from Taunton, and several who often referred to her as their "second mom". As one of those friends put it, Judi was admired for her loving heart, her generous spirit and how she kept her friendships alive.

Our family would like to extend a very special thanks and sincere appreciation to the nursing staff, doctors, and other staff members of Providence Newberg Medical Center. During the final days of Judi's life, they gracefully cared for her, as well as her family, with the compassion and dignity she so deeply deserved.

A celebration of life will be held at the Nut Tree Ranch Community Center, 2902 E. 2nd street, Newberg, OR, on July 16th, 2022, at 4:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Dean, Paul, Rebekah and Victoria...Judi was larger than life. She had a heart of gold, platinum and diamonds! Judi always had her heart with everyone she knew, especially her family. Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were her everything. I was beyond blessed to have been part of Judi's family. Even across the country we would connect as she was always reaching out with love and concern for all of us back east. funny, it was my 6am...her 3am conversations that used to crack me up She and I would laugh about her bedtime routine!! Judi's kindness and love for everyone is something I have always admired about her and of course, her big laugh and even bigger smile. Judi was a very gifted artist and through her artwork she will be remembered forever. Judi is home with God watching over all of her loved ones, especially you Dean, the love of her life. As you all mourn this beautiful lovely lady, I pray her memories of kindness and warmth will help you to journey onward with peace, knowing that she is in a better place watching on all of her family and that she is enjoying her garden and artwork in Heaven. My prayers and my love to all of you Love Wendy and Dave

Where to begin....a fantastic friend with a super sense of humor, a wonderful smile and positivity that wouldn't quit! Judi and Dean were two peas in a pod and the world is so much better for having had them in it. Her loss is so incredibly sad for so many who knew her. From Massachusetts to Canada to Maine and then to Oregon - they covered many miles together before landing close to the family they loved. Judi was a unique, caring, incredibly creative and loving person and I am so thankful to have had her in my life.

To my loving wife, life long companion 48 years side by side in everything we did, I will miss you for the rest of my existence. Remember all the great memories that we shared, the gardening that you enjoyed so much, the painting, carving, sculpting and crocheting that you enjoyed so much. The Red Sox and Patriots games that you would endure watching with me. All the family and life long friends that will miss you and your kindness. I will love you forever in my heart. Your loving husband Dean

My dear "sister", by choice, I will always remember we shared a love of music. You and a beautifully trained operatic soprano voice, and my folk singing in the sixties. Our artistic pursuits followed in the seventies and on. Watching your children grow up in New England, keeping in touch when you were traveling with your family, and caring for your parents. Always working to make things better for everyone in times good and difficult. I will always have you in my heart, smiling. with Love, I'm a proud owner of the "Judi" hat. Priscilla

I miss you bunches mom. I am constantly thinking of all of your favorite things you like to say. Things like: "huggles", "go to your room", "I love you bunches" - really anything "bunches", and, of course, "delicious".

Your love and influence will remain with us always. One just has to look around to see all of the beautiful artwork that you created for us. Put on one of your hats or eat some of your jam or pickles.

Thank you so much for all that you did for everyone in your world. I'll end with another one of your favorite sayings..."consider yourself hugged". Love you forever...
