Age 53, on January 9, 2010 of Bethel Park. Wife of David W. Zabkar; mother of Lauren (Jason) McLean of Bethel Park, Daniel Zabkar and Emily Zabkar; daughter of Robert and Patricia Gries of Peters Twp.; sister of Barbara (Bernie) Fischer of Peters Twp., Cindy (Gene) Chapman of Peters Twp., and Ken (Debbie) Gries of Champion, PA. As a registered nurse and active member of St. David's Episcopal Church, Judy devoted her life to helping and serving others. Her kind soul and gracious presence will be missed by all who have had the pleasure to know her. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. David's Episcopal Church, McMurray Road on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hillman Cancer Center, "Patient Care", 5150 Centre Ave., Suite 1B, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. Please send condolences to

Dear Dave and family,

I was so saddened to hear of Judy's passing. Though we had not seen each other since our nursing school days at Shadyside Hospital, I enjoyed keeping in touch at the holidays. Her beautiful spirit and smile always came through in her letters, and her love and devotion to you and the kids was so heart warming. Thank you for letting me know. I will be praying for your comfort and healing.
