Dave,
I just learned of Kathy's tragic passing earlier today, and the news saddened me deeply. While I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and searing sense of loss that accompanies the passing of one's devoted soul-mate and life partner, I can easily imagine the level of happiness and joy that you brought to each other. Those memories will forever be with you and family, and I pray that they will bring you some measure of comfort in these most difficult times. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope that this somehow eases your burden.

Dave and Chris,
We are all sending our love to you and cannot imagine the depth of the loss that you must feel. We will all miss Kathy's smile and strength. Ed and I will especially remember our band trips and meals out as we "recovered" together after the Jazz Festival or just sitting in the family room and sharing a glass of wine. Chris has carved a special place in our hearts after living with us for a year, and his "brothers" and "sister" send their hugs and prayers, too. Hope we can give you those hugs in person at sometime in the near future. Love- The Shapleys

Dave & Chris, I have such fond memories of Kathy...what a great "band" Mom! She was always able to keep the kids "in line"... then give them a little smile to let them know she cared! She loved you both so much and will always be in your hearts...please know that those of us that were part of your lives in Folsom send prayers for your strength and healing during this difficult time. love, Cindy

Dear Dave and Chris,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of one very loving and beautiful wife and mother. Life is so tender, so fragile and so very precious. Through this time of sadness may the love and understanding of family and friends help to lift you up and comfort you.
Having lost my mother in the past month I can say that the prayers from family and friends for God's strength helped me so much. You are both in my prayers.
