Julia "Julie" Martin

Julia (Julie) Eggers Martin, born March 12th, 1960, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 in the loving care of her family at her home in Theodore, AL. After being born in Natchez, MS in 1960, her family moved to Mobile, where Julie lived for most of her life. After graduating from Davidson High School, Julie attended Auburn University, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Shortly thereafter, she married James Martin on October 30, 1982 and moved to Lafayette, LA where their first child was born. Upon returning to Mobile, she gave birth to two sons and later began a new career at Lamar Advertising, where her colleagues were like a second family. Julie was fond of the beach, dining with friends, watching Auburn football, and with her husband shared a love of tennis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Eggers, and her brother, Dr. Jerry Eggers. She is survived by her husband, James Edward Martin, and children: Whitney Painter (Daniel), Philip Martin (Jennifer), and Richard Martin (Caitlin); seven grandchildren: William and Oliver Painter, Joseph, Clare, Mary Catherine, and Maximilian Martin, and Benjamin Martin. She is also survived by her siblings and siblings-in-law, residing mostly in and around the Mobile, AL area: Larry Eggers (Geraldine), Charlotte Eggers (sister-in-law), Dennis Eggers (Denise), Billy Eggers (Pam), Jeannie Eggers Scott (John), Allan Eggers (Laura), and Joy Eggers Levens, and by many more in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The Martin family desires to express sincere gratitude to all who loved Julie through her beautiful life, including family, friends, and co-workers, and for all who cared for her, including countless doctors and nurses. Julie's beautiful personality, loving hospitality, and radiant smile were a blessing for all those who had the privilege of knowing her. A Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 26th from 5:00-7:00 PM, and a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mobile. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, located at 7200 Desiard St. in Monroe, LA 71203.
