Those we love are never really lost to us
we feel them in so many special ways--
through friends they always cared about
and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days...
in words of wisdom we still carry with us
and memories that never will be gone...
Those we love
are never really lost to us--
for everywhere their special love lives on.

Julia,
In every heart you touched,
in every life you changed,
in every thought you inspired,
your love lives on.

Your voice still echoes,
your life still inspires,
your light still shines...
and always will.

We'll remember you when flowers bloom
Early in the spring
We'll remember you on sunny days
In the fun that summer brings.

We'll remember you in the fall
As we walk through the leaves of gold
And in the wintertime – we'll remember you
In the stories that are told.

But most of all we'll remember you
Each day - right from the start
You will be forever near
For you live within our heart.

As the mother who lost her beloved daughter I am surviving the worst . Nothing else that happens in life could be more painful than this . I often remind myself that the strength I have discovered in living without Julia means I can survive anything now . It is so wrong that a young person dies ! Since last May , I am searching for answers , as many do when they lose someone they love . Sometimes , on the outside , I would appear to be okay , but inside... the pit of emptiness is always in my heart . And I know that I am not alone - so many mothers lost or are losing children in this strange world... And their pain is so intense that they do not believe they can take it any longer . ....My daughter... My Julia ... She never really left me . She has been with me through all my days ... I still believe that she is just traveling . And soon , she will open the door and with a great smile will say , " Hi guys ! What's up ? " Julia's voice will be always with me , in my heart , in my soul ...deeply inside me . And her love will stay with me as long as I am living . I do believe that Julia will never be forgotten . But she continues to touch the lives of others through all of us who shared her brief , but full and bright time , here , on earth , I do, believe . ...

From your mom. At the best level of my being , You are still with me . We still look at each other , at the level beyond beyond sight . We talk and laugh with each other , in a place beyond words . We still touch each other , on the level beyond touch . We share time together in a place , where time stands still . We are still together , on a level called love . But ... I cry alone ...for you , in a place called reality ...Your mom always ...

I have known Julia ever since she was in her mother's womb, because her mom, Rimma and I, have been best friends for over 35 years.
Julia was never an ordinary child.
Once, when she was still an infant, I spent the night in her parents' apartment, in the same room where Julia slept in her crib. When I opened up my eyes early in the morning, there was Julia, standing in her crib, looking at me, so peacefully, and smiling with her ‘Gerber baby' smile. I lay there, talking to her, and she kept looking at me and listening, as though she understood every word I was saying. It felt as though she and I were having a meaningful conversation.
Then I left for America, and many years had passed before she came to this country and I saw her again, a beautiful young girl, determined to succeed in America.
From Rimma I always heard about Julia's progress on every level of her education, about her love for art and theatre.
I watched her bloom into a beautiful young woman. And she turned every opportunity this country offered into a big success.
And then I knew, that those eyes looking at me from the crib, didn't deceive me – Julia has always been extraordinary….
Along with her academic and professional success, there was her pristine beauty. I told her that her face froze at 18 and hasn't aged a bit, to which she always smiled.
I will miss her smile terribly. And I have and will always be proud that I have known Julia, because she is an example of what the extraordinary success really is.
Julia, there is no good-byes, wherever you'll be, you'll be in my heart……

My Dear Rimma, Julia's life was so meaningful, filled with knowledge, ambitions and love.
It must live on in the fondest memory of those, who know and love her. It should inspire people to fulfill their dreams, while their Shining Star is looking at them from above and cheering them on to new heights.

Somehow, Julia was chosen to stay young forever…… And you – to carry her legacy forward…. And you will….

Love you always.

Julia... Native spirit, kind, sympathetic person. Terrible tragedy tore off your vital flight on take-off. to us never will reconcile to your death. Cheerful, beautiful appearance and an inner world, you always caused sincere love in people. Since the birth you tried to bear to people only pleasure. I remember as you laughed to unfamiliar children at a meeting. You gave them the smile in all sincerity. Forever you will remain like a sweet angel in my memory

My beautiful friend Julia, we grew up together. The most beautiful memories of our childhood keep on flashing before my eyes over and over again. My mind is still unrested, struggling with the thought that she is no longer with us. I'll always remember her as a sweetest girl, full of energy, positive thoughts and ambitions that have carried her a long way. I'm very thankful that she was a part of the happiest episodes of my life.

Dear cousine Julia
I feel a warmth around me
like your presence is so near,
And I close my eyes to visualize
your face when you were here,
I endure the times we spent together
and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as I have those memories
we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak no more
my voice is always there,
Because every night before I sleep
I have you in my prayer.

Julia! Beautiful name, beautiful face, beautiful hair, amazing person! Most of the people live long life and leave after death two dates on the stone: the date of birth and the date of death. Between two dates is dash, not much to say or remember, just - dash. Julia's 34 years were full of events, achievements and success. She did not waste the day of her life. She had big heart full of love for her family, her friends, her teachers, her colleagues, her work and just life itself. Julia's parents Rimma, Charley and Alex were so proud of her! Her life was as bright and beautiful as poppy flower but unfortunately as short as it's too. Too, too short...! For everybody who loved Julia seems like light went off... All that left- bright memories, sad and warm feelings. My heart is with you,Rimma and Charley. There are no words enough to express my sorrow.

My deepest condolences to Julia's family and friends. As a Time Warner colleague of hers at Tuner Broadcasting, I admired her drive and passion for what she did and most of all her ability to cross organizational divides in the warmest and kindest of ways. I didn't know her well, and I am truly saddened that I won't be able to get to know such a wonderful person even better. I'm grateful to have spent what time I did getting to know such a lovely person.

Julia was an amazing person. She was one of kind: beautiful inside and out and talented in so very many ways. It was a pleasure and a privilege to work with her every day at Time Inc. and a delight to watch her bloom and become such a tremendous success at HBO.

Her loss is truly heartbreaking and difficult to comprehend. My deepest sympathies go out to Julia's family and to Jorgen and his family.

My Julia

She came into my life as a displaced teenager to join her mom with some person who was to become her step father. Her best friend, Kristine, left behind in Latvia.
She was instantly shuttled into Secaucus High School with limited English skills and ostracized by her peers. Soon she was to meet Dolores, a young girl from Equador in similar circumstances. Kristine and Dolores remained her dearest friends for life.
By the time she graduated High School she attained many honors in her new American home. Went to Stevens College on scholarship and was equally successful in her professional career.
Her adult life was just beginning. Her 34th birthday was to be soon, but in her short time she achieved more than most will accomplish in twice as many years.
I give thanks to my God for the pleasure she brought to my life. And her spirit is deep inside my soul.

Our family knows Julia from the day when the smiling little girl with big bows firstly came to the school. Julia's mother Rimma and I worked together as teachers at a school in Riga and Julia grew at my eyes. She was very inquisitive, diligent, kind, cheerful and sociable girl. From my memory come pleasant moments of our contacts with her. Here she and my daughter are playing with the piano, here they are looking a new book... Unfortunately we have not seen Julia, when she became an adult - only photos. From the contacts with Julia's mother we were knew and happy of her success in school, life and work.
We grieve that so early her life was suddenly interrupt and how many of her plans will not come true.
Our sincere condolences to the family , relatives and friends.
In our hearts Julia will always stay young and beautiful.

I worked with Julia at Time Inc. It might seem weird for me to write, because we barely had a chance to talk (we worked in different departments). Nonetheless, I remember passing her on the floor. She had this beautiful gaze, an intense curiosity that reflected intelligence. I wish I could have interacted more with her, but my experience is proof, that even in a fleeting moment, Julia could make a lasting impression on a person.

May her soul rest in peace and the love that is felt for her be of some consolation to her family and friends.

With deepest sympathies,

Our dearest Julia,
The news about your tragic fall in Ecuador left us heartbroken forever. We have known you for almost twenty years since you were a charming sunshine high school student with unbelievably beautiful long blond hair that reached your knees. Always serene, with a warm smile, with bright intelligence in your eyes, confident and organized, you made us admire your constant successes in your study, professional career, in everything you tried and did. Reading the numerous posts from all your colleagues (please, please continue sharing your thoughts, emotions and memories about Julia as your posts are the only remedy for Julia's mother Rimma who doesn't know how to live another day without her only beloved daughter Julia) we are deeply impressed by your professional abilities and by the fact how many people were impacted and inspired by your honesty, kindness, caring, a sharp sense of humor and passion for life. You loved life and tried to live each day to its fullest. Your life was cut tragically short but it was bright like a shooting star. You will be always in our hearts, Julia!
Our dearest friends Rimma and Charlie,
We share your incurable pain as our own and will be always here with you and for you.
Rimma, you did a great job bringing to the world such a special, rarest person like Julia. Your daughter loved you tremendously and always appreciated everything you did for her and her friends.
Our hearts go out to all Julia's family, her beloved Jorgan, her best friends Christina, Dolores and many many others who loved her.
All our love,
Tanya and Raymond

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Julia almost 4 years ago by Donna. Since then, our relationship has grown not only professionally, but personally. As a vendor, Julia not only treated me as a partner, but with such professionalism & respect. She was so honest & straight forward, which I truly loved & appreciated. She was such a natural beauty, with a style and personality all of her own. Julia always looked out for me (among many others) and I will forever be grateful for that. I am happy I shared the time that I did with her during her short stay here. Julia, you will be missed by so many & you've changed so many lives. I will pray for your family and friends. May you rest in peace- I look forward to seeing you again on the other side.. I'll bring the Frog's Leap for me, you & Sameer.

It is rare when you can think about a friend or a colleague or a loved one and pinpoint the exact moment that your life became richer, more interesting, more fun, more meaningful, more rewarding as a result of knowing them. For me, that moment came this past January when Julia attended our company sales conference as our guest to speak to our sales organization about HBOGO and share her candid insights ( as only Julia can) about the dynamic business that we have the privilege to work in. A colleague and I went on stage with Julia, and for the next hour we talked with her about HBOGO and all of the exciting changes and challenges we face in this business. It was exhilarating. Julia was a rock star that day. Everyone came up to her afterwards to tell her how much they enjoyed listening to her speak, how much they admired her honesty, and how fantastic and dynamic she was. And then they came up to me to tell me how lucky I was to have her as my customer. I will tell you that they were right--on both counts. That was it. That's when I knew my life experience was better for having known her. We later celebrated with champagne and toasted to our mutual success and friendship. We had celebrated many successes since.. So, Julia, it is fitting that this final toast is to you: Thank you... Thank you for making me and everyone better... For challenging us to think broader and deeper.... For making us laugh at just the right moment. And finally, for just being YOU. We will never forget you. Your joyful spirit will live in our hearts forever. Cheers to you, my friend.

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the Labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take her home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, They will be done"!
For all the joys The child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run,
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

I spoke with Julia for the first time about 6 months ago when I was interviewing here at HBO. The interview was strict at first but when we moved to the personality questions we connected so much that we ended up spending the second half of the interview joking and laughing in her office.
Even if I haven't had a chance to work directly with Julia, I knew she was someone very fun to be around and to work with and I was always looking forward to the day that chance was going to manifest itself. Unfortunately it will never happen.
I cannot even begin to imagine the pain here family must be going through because of this tragic lost, that's why I wanted to extend my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

In any meeting, on any project, Julia had her colleagues' respect and faith. Julia was highly competent, intelligent, and she was recognized for her ability to deliver. As a person, Julia was sincere, witty, and had a smile that was infectious. Julia was a truly special person and her loss is felt deeply by all of us.

Sunday May 27 was a day of loss for many people: loss of a child, parent, friend, partner, colleague, manager, and mentor.

My loss was also the loss of a gifted and passionate leader who was a pleasure to have as a direct report and a joy to have as part of my staff.

Julia quickly became indispensable to me and my new organization even though I had only been at HBO for about a year. Julia was a pragmatic problem solver with a consistent focus on achieving the optimal outcome; we were very like-minded. She loved her job, and I could always depend on her. I was counting the days until Julia got back from her vacation to catch up with her and talk about all the challenges we wanted to tackle. I will miss our conversations.

I am deeply sorry that none us us will see the full extent of Julia's professional potential. She had many successes ahead of her, and it is difficult to imagine all of the contributions that are now forever lost to her, us, and her profession.

But I do not want my remembrance to sound too regretful. I am also truly thankful that Julia was part of my professional life as long as she was, and am certain of the positive and lasting effect that she made through all of her work.

Thank you Julia-

I'm so touched by all the beautiful words I've been reading about my cousin Julia. I always knew how important her work and her friends were to her, and now I see how important she was to all of you as well. Sometimes in life we let "life" get away from us, without spending as much time as we would like to with those that are important to us. It's at times like this that regret gets the better of us, when it's of course too late. Julia I'm sorry we let so much time pass, I take solace in knowing how happy you were, how much you enjoyed your life and that you were loved by so many. Rest in peace, until we meet again.

My heartfelt condolences to Jorgen, the girls, Julia's parents and the rest of the Musailova-Mello family. Julia's intelligence, humor, steadiness and warmth were well-known within her HBO family. Every time I saw her, she was always serene and calm, very often with a smile. She will be deeply missed and I will never forget her.

I had the honor of working with Julia on her very first project after she joined HBO and I will cherish those memories for the rest of my life. We did work again on other major projects too and it was a great learning experience for me.

No matter what the situation was, I never saw here without a smile and I will definitely going to miss that. Her positive attitude towards work and life was unbeateable.

How can I forget the kind support she provided when I was about to become father for the first time. I still remember those words "Family comes first, work can wait...."

My deepest condolences to Julia's family. She will be deeply missed and never be forgotten.

Dearest friend,

We've known one another since I was 12 and you were 14 years old. We lived a few blocks away and went to the same school. We shared so many experiences and will always be part of one-another. You were part of my family. I watched you blossom and it was such an honor to know you and be a welcome part of your life. I hope you felt how much I loved and admired you - your intellect, mature outlook, your sharp sense of humor, life attitude and ambition. I regret that I had not voiced to you how much I loved you, still love you and will always love you.

You were so alive and had such an appetite for life; you loved to try new things (e.g. scuba diving), new foods, music, you were so well read, articulate and the most well rounded person I met. You had such great taste in everything! How much I was impressed by your smarts, your self-awareness, perceptive nature and sensitivity. You never took yourself too seriously and that made you so approachable and even more likable and charming.

Not only were you successful in your career and touched so many people along the way (as is self evident from all your colleagues who posted here - I'm so happy to read each post) perhaps not many knew of your other talents because you never gave yourself enough credit. Your paintings, to name one talent, were marvelous and I was always able to see your soul in them, your depth and character.

You loved to travel and were so inquisitive. I learned a lot from you.

You met a wonderful man who made you very happy. You finally had the job you felt really good about because you felt your work was visible, meaningful and you enjoyed and flourished in the new environment. You really spread your wings. It is my impression that these last few years were the happiest in your life. I hope you know this Jorgen, I think you do. Thank you for making her so happy. She loved your girls too and each time I saw the 4 of you together it was clear they loved her too.

To your loving parents Rimma, Alex, Charlie, and to your life partner Jorgen. I cannot imagine a deeper loss. My heart and soul bleed for you and Julia. She was taken from all of us so soon, it is unfathomable. Please try to take solace in the fact that she lived a rich life and that a part of her will continue to live on because of how many people she touched. Julia will be in my heart and on my mind for as long as I live. I will share my memories of Julia with my daughter, husband (“chef Vadusha”, as she sweetly nicknamed him, who too loved her and will miss her terribly) and close friends so she will not be forgotten.

Dearest friend, I will miss you every day and you will always be an inspiration to me. I hope to meet you in due time on the other side. Rest in peace.

With all my love,

Rita

My heartfelt condolences to Julia's family. I only had a handful of face-to-face interactions with Julia, but I didn't need a lot of face time to appreciate what a special person she was. She had a blend of intellect, sincerity, optimism, integrity, and caring that I really appreciated and admired. It is not often to find a person of such character, and very sad to lose one. My prayers for those who grieve in this difficult time.

I met Julia over a year and a half ago while visiting HBO on a business trip, but we stayed in touch ever since. She was smart, hardworking and always looking for a creative solution to a problem. What impressed me most was her ability to quickly zero-in on the crux of an issue, while never losing her pleasant demeanor.

My sincerest sympathies are with Julia's family in their moment of loss. We don't know what life will bring us tomorrow but some of us are busy making the most of today. Julia was one such person and that's how she will always be remembered.

Julia was my boss at HBO. She was my mentor and my friend. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. She always inspired us to be better, to do better, to make things better.

She was the rock of the team. She always assured us that everything would be ok, even when things seemed hopeless or difficult. She was the backbone for so many of us.

She was brilliant and logical. She was tough, yet understanding. She was funny, generous and open-minded. You could tell her anything, and her door was always open.

I will miss her every single day.

To her family, friends and loved ones - I wish to extend me deepest and sincerest sympathies. I will keep you in my prayers.

I only knew Julia professionally as a team member and an acquaintance here at HBO. I was thoroughly inspired by her confidence and exceptional level of people skills as she ran meetings and was able to cut to the chase and get action items quickly assigned and projects moving forward. I will miss her warm friendly heart, her Wit and sparkling eyes. My prayers go out to her family and friends in this time of need.
