Julia Turner-Butler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2012.
LONGVIEW — "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
Julia Kay Turner-Butler was born April 19, 1965, in Longview, Texas, to Velma Jones-Turner and Luther L. Turner Sr. As a child, she enjoyed reading and all things educational, and being the big sister to her brother Luther Jr. Julia accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, which thus began her journey on the battlefield for Christ.
On August 18, 1983, she married her faithful and loving husband, Ronald L. Butler of Chandler, Texas. In 2001, Julia and Ronald were blessed with their first born son, Johnathan Khalil, and the following year, in 2002, they were blessed with a daughter, Jarolyn Kyeesha Butler.
Julia attended Longview schools and graduated from Longview High School in 1983. She attended Kilgore College and later graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies. She would soon obtain a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Phoenix in 2001. Julia shaped the minds of thousands of elementary and middle school age children as a teacher for Longview ISD for more than 15 years.
Julia took her flight home Monday, January 9, 2012. She will be greatly and deeply missed by all that knew her. She was truly a soldier for the Lord.
Julia was preceded in death by her father, Luther L. Turner Sr.
Loving memories will be cherished by her faithful and devoted husband, Ronald Butler; two devoted children, Johnathan and Jarolyn; mother, Velma Jones-Turner; brothers, Luther L. Jr. (Kimberly) and Tim Ferchill (Vivian); sisters, Carolyn Thomas and Susan White (Will); niece, Alexis Turner; nephew, Ahmad Turner; special cousins, Sue Williams, Delois Jones and Daphne Crayton; special friends, Vernesia Gentry, Madeline Scott, Joyce Thompson, Jane Johnson, Dan the Fireman and Charlotte Johnson; and special mother, Molly Whitman. Also left to cherish her memories, the Butler family of Chandler, two aunts, a host of cousins, friends and students.
Services for Mrs. Butler will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Longview Full Gospel Holy Temple Church located at 331 E. Pittman Street in Longview, Texas. Burial will be in Jordan Valley Memorial Park.
Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. today, January 13, 2012, at Stanmore Funeral Home located at 1105 Martin Luther King Blvd in Longview.

Dear Ronald, Jonathan & Jarolyn,
I was so sad to hear about Julia's passing. I think about her and your family often as you all touched my life 10+ years ago. Julia's love for God and for all of you shone through to everyone who met her. She was so smart and kind and loving. I know that she will be watching out for all of you from Heaven and surrounding you with infinite love and wisdom. Blessings and love to you all.

I had the honor to be aquainted with the Butler family this past year, the love in their household and their love for God is magnificent. I will continue to love and cherish this family like my own because that's exactly how they made me feel each time I was in their home. Our mighty God do NOT make any mistakes! Peace and Love...

I worked with Julia for many years at Forest Park and always enjoyed her so much. We shared many laughs together. She was so much fun to work with, a very dedicated teacher, and an inspiration to the students and staff.
Her family was her pride and joy.It was so obvious she loved you all so much. Julia will be missed by all who knew her. To know her was to love her.

It was hard walking away from you this last time. Knowing that all I have are the precious memories, words of encouragement and a letter that you wrote to me the year I left your class. But with what I do have I will raise my children, love my family and be just as successful as you always told me I could be. Thank you will never be enough to express the appreciation that I have for you being a part of my life. You taught me more than English, you taught me not to settle for less and to follow my heart no matter what the world has planned for me. Follow my own plan. With love I'll carry you with me.

Julia has been such a gift from God, as have Ron and the children. The last time I saw her she said to me, "I can't be blessed by God, unless I bless others." She in herself was a blessing, and one I will carry with me for the rest of my life. She showed me what love can be shared amongst people, and how valuable time can be with loved ones. I love you, Julia, Ron, John and Jarolyn!! As my son said, we have a new angel in heaven, waiting to see us again! God bless to the family! I do love you dearly!

I have known K.K. since we were kids in Bethel Temple and was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. My children had her as a teacher at Forest Park and have fond memories of her.
