Julian KENNEY Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Jan. 14 to Jan. 15, 2017.
KENNEY, Julian Thomas Webster
B.A., J.D.
July 12, 1948 – December 19, 2016
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Left to mourn are his wife of 43 years, Linda; his sons, Robert (Challayne) and Jason (Kyla); his adored grandchildren, Quinn, Emmett and Liam; and his sisters, Dr. Geraldine Kenney-Wallace and Jacqualine Kenney. Julian was born in Portsmouth, England and was educated at Abingdon School in Oxford. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1966 and attended the University of British Columbia where he gained a B.A. in 1973 and subsequently attended law school, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1977. Julian was one of the founding partners of the law firm Lindsay Kenney LLP of Vancouver, BC in 1980 and practised from the Vancouver office for nearly three decades until March 2008 when he retired from the firm and relocated to 100 Mile House BC. In 2010, he joined Peter Messner, QC, in a partnership that eventually evolved into the current firm of Heartland Law LLP. Julian was a member of the Law Society of BC and Canadian, Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Cariboo Bar Associations. He served on the executive for two years as Deputy Chairman of Mackrell International, an association of law firms with worldwide representation. Julian had a long history of business and community involvement but was never happier than when giving his adored grandchildren tractor rides round the farm. He will be sorely missed. A gathering for family and friends will be planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army.

Very sad to hear of Julian's passing. It reminds us of the Holy Cross years as we watched our kids grow into young adults and have success in sports and other activities. Our condolences to all of the family!

Julian, you died too young, too soon & with so much more to share with those lucky enough to be around you. I'll surely miss your sharp wit & playful sense of humour!

You remain a dear friend for whom I have the very greatest of respect.

So sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Julian. Fond memories back to when our sons played football together for many years. Julian was always involved wherever he could and made the experience so much more enjoyable. He was always a gentlemen.

Julian, you will be missed, you were a very good man! Good friend, good father, good cook and a good friend to share a drink with around the campfire. The good die young has been proven once again. You will be fondly remembered by all who knew you. My condolences to your family.
