Julian R. Rubio Sr.

Julian Rubio, Sr., age 82, of Clovis, NM, died on Monday, November 30, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Amarillo, TX. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Julain Rubio III, Mario Rubio, Carlos Tapia, Robert Tapia, Alex Rubio, and Eric Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers will be all verterns and friends.
Julian was born January 9, 1927, in Hondo, TX, to Carlos H. and Manuela Rodriguez Rubio. He married Anita Botello in April of 1952, in San Antonio, TX. He worked as a butcher at Rollins Packing. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and lifetime member of the VFW Post 3280 and 3015, American Veteran Post 14, DAV Chapter 6, and the American Legion #25. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Pennsylvania.
Julian is survived by two sons, Julian "Pio" Rubio, Jr. of Clovis, NM, and Roland (Rachel) Rubio of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Julia Tapia of Portales, NM, and Anna (Eddie) Jaramillo of Albuquerque, NM; step-son, Joe Jiminez of Flint, MI, and one sister, Leonor Pedraza of San Antonio, TX; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Felix Rubio and Ruben Rubio; sister, Adela Orosco, and son, Hondo Rubio.
