Julie D'Agostino Obituary

Published by Chicago Tribune on Aug. 10, 2015.
Julie Carr D'Agostino, 22, of Elmhurst, passed away on Friday August 7th, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved daughter of Mario and Mary Carr D'Agostino, loving sister to Michael, Kevin, Elizabeth (fiancé Ryan Hogan), Carly, and twin sister Natalie. Adored niece, cousin, and friend to many, loyal companion to her dogs Tino and Kiwi. Deemed "Warrior Princess", Julie fought a brave and courageous battle to the end, always maintaining a positive attitude and never wanting to give up despite the overwhelming obstacles in her way. In her short life, Julie achieved a PhD (Personally her Degree) in design, fashion, cooking, organizing, crafting and hosting. She will always be remembered for her strength, resilience, loyalty, love of Meryl Streep, fondness of shopping and all things "pink". We know heaven is a little "pinker" with her in it. Julie was a gift to all that had the fortune of knowing her and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She lit up the world with her smile and lit up the stage with her singing, dancing and acting. May she enjoy the new stage she is on in heaven, entertaining the saints and angels and her dear Nonna who she is now with. Too numerous to list, her family wishes to thank all of those who helped Julie on her journey, prayed for her strength and worked tirelessly to find comfort for her. Friends and family will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, 779 South York Road, (SE corner of York and Madison), Elmhurst. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, Attn: Gwendolyn Blakemore, 425 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, IL 60143 or Make a Wish America, 4742 N. 24th Street, Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016-4862 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, MD 20814. To the D'Agostino Family,

Though we only met the D'Agostino family once at Marquette's graduation weekend, youl made a lasting impression on our entire family. Your love of life and exuberance was contagious. We kept up with Julie's struggle through Lauren & Elizbeth's friendship. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your amazing beautiful family.

God bless,

Dear Mr. & Mrs. D'Agastino,

My name is Tom Baranyi, I first met you & Julie back in December 2009. From the beginning I could feel your love and compassion you both had for Julie. Your constant drive to seek help and to make Julie comfortable was unmeasurable. I hope you both continue to feel you did everything possible and hold that love in your hearts forever thinking of Julie.

To the D'Agostino family, I only met your Julie once after her stunning performance in "Hairspray". She was a shining star then and now she shines from above. Please know that there is an entire village of people that mourn and grieve with you now and for all the days to come. I can only imagine how beautiful she is while smiling, singing, and dancing her way thru the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Mary, Mario and Family,

I didn't really know Julie but I certainly knew of her and today's Memorial Service gave me even more incite to her, her life and what all of you have been through. She certainly touched a lot of people and will continue to do so. There aren't any more words to say that you haven't heard already and I hope they will help you through this very hard time. God really did give her to the family that would help her go through this in the best possible way, with the best possible outlook. Believe me, there will come a time when all you remember are the wonderful times.

Love,

Earlier this summer, My mother and I had the pleasant surprise of running into Julie and her older sister at mass in Oakbroom Terrace. We talked for a bit, and she was as perky as ever. I truly had no idea how badly her illness had progressed, or that she would be gone just a few short weeks later.

But that was Julie, she was always happy when others would be sad. She was positive when others would be pessimistic.

I am very lucky to have known her through our performances at IC, and thankful I could be the Corny to her Tracy. She has an enthusiasm few others in the department had, and certainly played no small role in the success of "Hairspray!'' .

My recently deceased granddad greatly admired her, and I hope they get to finally meet in the next life.

To the D'agostino family: I would like to first offer my condolences, but also to remind you to keep living your lives. As someone who has recently gone through much loss, I can appappreciate how truly difficult it is to move on. But (once you feel ready, of course) the greatest way to honor Julie, and all you may have lost, is to live your lives to their fullests.

Breathe easy Julie.

Mr. and Mrs. D'Agostino, Natalie, and Family,

Julie is an unforgettable member of our Vis class and Church. Although I hadn't seen her many times since we were kids, it was easy to hear about her or remember how hard she worked in school and be overwhelmingly inspired to live a better life. I'm so sorry for your loss, everyone who met her was a lucky person.

Sincerely,

Perhaps God is a poet
who writes with words
of flesh and bone and leaf and flower . . .

Every hour of every day,
words pour out of the Poet's heart,
and every word is beautiful and true and worth the telling.
And when each poem is perfect,
and there is no more which ought to be said,
the Poet gently takes the words back into His heart
where they are safe forever . . . and then begins again.
