Hays Family: I was so sad to hear about Julie. I can't even imagine what you are going through. Lean on each other and your other family/friends/loved ones to help get you through this. Jessie- if u get this, I'll be home for x-mas the 18th-25th of Dec. If u feel up to it, I would love to meet for coffee or something. I think you have my cell phone number still, maybe...? I talked with Jill P. the other day, we both send our love, thoughts, and prayers!

Abby,
Your mom was an amazing person who always welcomed us into her home. She treated us all like daughters and didn't hesitate to tell us how she really felt. Your mom was an amazing influence on us and we will always remember the fun-loving and positive person she was. Our love goes out to Jessie for being the older sister we all wanted, Jake for being the substitute for an older brother we didn't have (to make fun of us), and Kevin for being an amazing personality within the family. We lvoe you all and will miss Julie greatly.

Love, Jacqueline & all your St.O's girls

The Hays Family,

Indeed words can not begin to explain the loss you have experienced. I pray God to keep you strong. I was shocked to learn of Dr. Hays' sudden demise. I am glad I had a chance to tell her last wednesday that she was the best professor I have ever had. I didnt know I was saying farewell to her.

To The Family of Julie Hays,

The news of Julie's passing was shocking and I kept waiting for her to show up for class Monday morning. I was a student of hers at UST in the undergrad Ops program. She was one of the most influential teachers I have had. She was full of knowledge/experience that I will miss. She came to class with a smile and was eager to teach us. She gave me advice in raising my children and continuing my career. My prayers are with the family and she will never be forgotten.

Kevin
It has been a long time since I have seen you and Julie. I think back to our college days and remembered what a great couple you and Julie were then and obviously built upon over the last 30 years. It looks like the two of you raised a great family according to my nephew Chet who told me of Julie's passing. Julie will leave a tremendous void, but if you are the same person I knew years ago, you will be fine over time. Our heart goes out to you and your kids.

All the best and keep moving forward.

Dear Kevin and family,

Julie and I were in the PhD program together at the University of Minnesota. During the long hours working there, we would often talk about our families. Julie would tease me that she couldn't imagine raising three kids of the same gender (I have three boys). But I'll always remember that she spoke of her family with such love and affection. All of us who knew her professionally and as a friend will miss her terribly.

Jessie and family:
I understand all to well how the passing of your mom is too sudden and so unfair. This is going to be a long journey. It is hard to imagine our lives without our loved one. Everyone always tells me that things are going to get easier and that I (we) can and will soon find peace with our loss. I know the encouraging words are frustrating because things aren't easy now nor will they be for awhile. Stay strong and know that you can call me anytime to talk. It is easier to cope when you don't feel so isolated and alone. I will do my best to try to make it to the funeral.
I am here for you!
Love, Jamie
