Julie Michaels Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2025.
Julie Arlene Michaels (née Ruggles), age 67, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her five children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings-lifted in prayers and love.

Born on September 10, 1958, in Spokane, Washington, Julie was the cherished daughter of Frederick and Anita Ruggles. From a young age, she embraced life with a spirit of adventure and a deep connection to her faith. Her childhood was filled with joyful memories of riding dune buggies, visiting family in Pennsylvania, attending church camp, and sharing fellowship within her church community.

Julie graduated from Haltom High School and carried her strong work ethic into every role she held throughout her life. She approached each job with dedication and heart, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Her unwavering faith guided her path; she openly shared the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered.

Above all else, Julie treasured her family. Her five children were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to remind them-and later her grandchildren-how deeply loved and special they were to her. Her legacy lives on through Wesley Taylor and husband Kevin; Whitney Carter and husband Clay; Rebecca Hill and husband Charles; Stephanie Michaels; and Cody Michaels and partner Yami. She was a proud grandmother to Ayden and Lucas Hill; Ellie and Gracie Carter; Dayton and Bentley Michaels; Zeplynn Champion; and one grandbaby soon to arrive.

Julie is also survived by her devoted parents, Fred and Ann Ruggles; her brother Keith Ruggles and wife Julia; her sister Cherylyn Blickensderfer and husband Robert; as well as many extended family members who held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind her loyal fur companion, Pearl.

A celebration of Julie's life will be held on October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Wise County Cowboy Church, 2070 Old Denton Hwy, Decatur, TX 76234. In honor of Julie's vibrant spirit and favorite color, the family invites all attendees to wear purple.

Julie's life was marked by faith, love for family, hard work, and an open heart that welcomed all. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

I always enjoyed speaking with Julie!
She often spoke of her family and always asked about mine.
She is missed and the only consolation is that she's looking after all of us from heaven!

I will forever miss you Julie, you have been my best friend for 22 years.. The hard times that we had both gone through and we have always been there for one another and we also knew how to aggravate each other. If this is what it's like to be truly alone now I don't like it.. You will always be in my heart and the memories will always remain in my mind.. RIP my "buddy" LOVE YOU!!!

Julie was a precious forever friend. We didn´t see each other much when we grew up but she will always be my friend.
She was a Bridesmaid in my wedding in 1975. She was part of what we called ourselves The Teen girls of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.
Julie faced some valleys in life but always came out on top because of her Faith in Jesus Christ and that Ruggles Grit!!
Heaven truly is Sounding Sweeter all the Time!! I´ll see ya soon, Jules!

Aunt Julie, I miss you tremendously. But I continue on knowing that you're watching over me and our family. I have seen/ heard many signs of you around since the day after you left this earth. Heaven gained a beautiful angel that night, and it comforts my heart knowing that you're there. I love you forever and always

I am so sorry to hear that. And I send my deepest sympathy and love to all the family--I met Julie in 2017 when she came to work for me. What a joy she was, she always came in with that big smile of her. We laughed together, cried together, prayed together and she was just like part of my family. We were still friends on face book and she shared pictures of her family. She loved her family--!! I will always remember the time that we had together. Love to you all--!!

I love you Steph and Julie. Your memory will live on in our hearts. Even when me and Steph drifted apart here and there over the years we always stayed in touch. We still checked on each other and caught up on what was happening in each others lives. How special is that? To love your kids friends like your own. Julie´s heart knew no bounds. Stephanie I´m so sorry you have to feel the pain of not having her here, but what a beautiful angel you gained. I love you. Rest ever so sweetly Julie.
