Julie VanBrunt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2025.
Julie Lynette VanBrunt was born February 6, 1964 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, OK to Cheryle and Gordon Fuller and passed away at home on January 14, 2025.

Julie was married to Jerry Vanbrunt for 36 years and had one daughter, Lauren Reeves. Julie moved with her family to Colorado in 1972 and graduated from Wasson HS in 1982. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Denver Technical University and worked for Lockheed Martin for 30+ years, retiring in 2018.

Everyone who knew Julie knew that she was not a spectator; she lived her life 100% the way she wanted. She loved spending her time at the Colorado Springs Country Club with friends and family playing pickleball, participating in water aerobics, swinging clubs or hanging by the pool. She enjoyed her evenings bowling with Jerry and was always up for a trip to Cripple Creek. Her summers were spent camping at Lake McConaughy and enjoying the outdoors. She always knew how to throw a great party and had a passion for hosting holidays and events for those she loved. She had a heart of gold and cared deeply for all of those around her, especially her twin sister Janice with whom she shared a special and unbreakable bond. Most of all, Julie lived for the time she could spend with her best friend, her daughter Lauren.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother Cheryle Fuller; she is survived by her husband Jerry, daughter Lauren (Trace) Reeves, father Gordon (Linda) Fuller, twin sister Janice (Dennis) Hillstrom, sister Rita Minnard as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

We are heartbroken but we find some comfort knowing that Julie will always be with us in our hearts.

Julie's celebration of life will be held on Tuesday January 21st at 11:00 am at the Colorado Springs Country Club, 3333 Templeton Gap Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

In lieu of flowers Julie's family would like to honor her love for our local firefighters by contributing to their efforts in our community. Please use the link below to make a donation in the memory of Julie.

Dear Jerry and family, I met Julie thru pickleball. I could always count on Julie to play when I texted her. We had so many almost awesome pickleball shots together. She was so much fun and I will really miss her. My heartfelt sympathy to you all.

So many things can be said about who Julie was but the thing that stands out the most was her unbreakable bond with her family and friends. She will forever be loved and missed.

Julie- you will be deeply missed and always remembered. As your friend and neighbor I so appreciated your wit, your spunk, and admired the way you lived your life on your own terms. You we´re Always outside walking the dogs, heading to Lauren´s, watering the flowers, going to the club, chatting on the phone, hosting the family. You were funny- you were authentic- you were smart and spirited- and you loved your family fiercely. You and Jerry have been a constant anchor on our block- our neighborhood came alive when you moved in. May your spirit fly free my friend- rest in peace.

We met a lonnng time ago in high school! I loved going to Hillside Gardens in the summer with Julie and our group of gals! And our yearly trip up to Cripple Creek for my birthday.... Feeling especially happy we did that just last weekend. Julie was involved in so many activities! I will miss my friend with all my heart.
