Justin Burbage Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2019.
Mr. Justin Graham Burbage, of James Island, South Carolina, husband of Samantha Hoover, passed away at age 33 on March 2, 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana, while being treated for Germ Cell Cancer. Justin was born on December 2, 1985 in Charleston, South Carolina, to Melissa Graham-Guffin and William "Pete" Burbage. Justin was attending and on the Dean's List at Trident Technical College pursuing a degree in Cyber Security when he was diagnosed. Justin earned a Master Certificate in Food Service Management in 2008 from Cornell University. He attended The College of Charleston and graduated from James Island Charter High School in 2004. Justin earned many honors throughout his academic years.
Justin had a very kind and gentle heart. He was very devoted to his family and friends. Justin truly cared about others and would reach out to strangers in need. Justin would feed the hungry and cared for stray animals. Nemo, his rescue dog, went from one home to another, until Justin gave him his forever home. He needed Justin's patience and calmness in order to trust. He has helped many people who were suffering emotionally by being there when they felt no one cared. Justin was always there to support his family, friends and strangers. You have made your family proud and you are so loved. We miss you and our lives will not be the same without you.
Justin loved to cook and was last employed at Grace and Grit. He was a Chef at several Charleston Restaurants. Justin is survived by his wife, Samantha Hoover; Father William (Pete) Burbage; Mother Melissa Graham-Guffin; Stepfather William (Chip) Guffin; his brother, Tyler Glen Burbage; Grandmother, Shirley Graham Peeples; Aunts, Kim Everett(Gary), Cindy Wilson(Al), Suzy Williams, and Salley Branch(Bubba); Uncles, Glen Burbage; Danny Burbage(Cathy) and many other family and friends who loved him very dearly. He also leaves behind his rescue dog, Nemo. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Burbage; and grandfathers, David G. Graham and Glen Burbage Sr. and Great Grandmother, Sue Hinson.
Justin was a huge Carolina Panthers fan, loved Star Wars and Ghostbusters. He was a member of South Carolina Ghostbusters. He was an avid video gamer and his other hobbies included tabletop games, combat archery, and escape rooms. Justin enjoyed a good challenge.

Justin you were always such an adorable boy growing up. And you grew into an amazing young man with such great talent. I always enjoyed going to the local restaurants you worked at when I was in town and bragging to my friends that you were the Chef. You were such a kind, handsome, loving cousin and I will always remember your beautiful smile and kind heart. One of a kind. Will miss you so much.

I will always remember Justin and Matt as little guys. At birthday parties, sitting on the Easter bunnys lap at the mall, and one time where they were dressed in jail costumes! Missy is my oldest friend, and I cant begin to imagine the pain that she and all of Justins loved ones are enduring. My love, thoughts, and prayers are with each of you. Justin, I know you and Pop are together now. Peace to all.

I never met Justin and I barely know my Cousin Sami, but I have "viewed/watched/stalked" their love for years on Facebook. These past few months, my emotions have been shredded following Sami and Burbage Family posts. My heart goes out to all of those who loved and actually knew Justin. Sami, Missy, Pete, Tyler, Nemo and all the others I am not familiar with. My condolences to you all. He was a great guy I would have loved to meet and get to know.
