Justin Cartwright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2011.
Justin Edward Cartwright

September 23, 1983 - July 24, 2011

SALEM - Justin Cartwright lost his battle with depression and died Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Salem, Oregon. He left behind his fiercest supporter and beloved wife Amy, brightest joy Layne and constant companion his dog Haus. He is also survived by his mother Rebekah Cartwright, father Keith Weaver and sister Jennifer Cartwright as well as other half siblings, his in-laws Alan and Denise Murray, Todd Murray, Kavin Murray and a large circle of extended family and loyal friends.

Justin was born in Bend, Oregon on September 23, 1983 and graduated from South Salem High School and the Oregon School of Massage. He met the love of his life during math class in seventh grade at Walker Middle School. They found a common love of horses. They were married under their special oak tree on June 30, 2007.

Justin dedicated his time and energy to his family and was never one to just sit around. He always found a new and sometimes quirky hobby--magic tricks, juggling, riding a unicycle. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be with family and friends camping, hunting, fishing, ATV riding and mountain bike racing, which he passed on to his best buddy, Layne. He was also an enthusiastic home improvement carpenter and as the owner of Oak Tree Massage, his healing hands brought therapeutic relief to many.

Monday, August 1, 2011 will be a day to remember Justin. A reflective hour will be from 9-10:30 am at Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Road NW, Salem. Private burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens. The public is invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm at the Chemeketa Eola Northwest Viticulture Center, 215 Doaks Ferry Road NW, Salem.

In lieu of flowers a Cartwright Family Fund has been set up to support his family at Pioneer Trust Bank at PO Box 2305, Salem, OR 97308. You may make checks payable to the Cartwright Family Fund.

He was a good man. We love him. We miss him.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. He's with God now & at peace with himself & the world he felt he needed to leave behind. He didn't mean to hurt his family & friends, he just needed to go. I have been where he was, I know how he felt. Just know he loved all of you & do not feel guilt for this loss. God bless.

Justin was in several of my classes at OSM. I remember him well... he was sweet, gentle and caring. I'm sure he turned out to be a wonderful Massage Therapist. We graduated together in Dec. 2005. I looked up his obituary a few days ago and still have it open on my computer. I keep going back to it and remembering the good stuff and yet have such a heavy heart for his family and friends, who are dealing with their loss. What a tragic thing! He had so much life ahead of him. He was taken much too young. RIP Justin.

When Justin lived with us in Texas, he was the love of our lives. His sweet smile and twinkling eyes made us all melt. He was always loving and giving. When I opened my Bible today I remembered the the day he gave me the cover that holds it. I love you, Justin. Our prayers are with Layne & Amy.
