Justin Cunha Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 24, 2022.

Justin J. Cunha, 43, of Cranston, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, May 20, 2022. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Jeffery J. Cunha and Mary Lou McCaffrey. Justin spent most of his life in Cranston.

He was tall and handsome, with a great smile and an interesting sense of humor. He graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a Culinary Arts Degree; and worked as a sous chef in Rhode Island, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, and Connecticut. He started swimming at six months, spent lots of time at the beach, and loved the Sons of Anarchy. An avid Yankee fan since birth, it seems he always welcomed an argument with local Red Sox Fans. Most of all, he loved his daughter.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Arianna Lou Cunha. His aunts, uncles, cousins, and childhood friends have fond memories of him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Thursday, May 26th at 6:30 PM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.

Visiting hours from 5-6:30 PM prior to the Service in the O’Neill Funeral Home.

I am so very sorry to hear of Justin’s passing. We always kept in touch after being friends in Spanish class at Cranston East. He was so proud of his Lil Lu and her accomplishments. Prayers for peace and healing for all his family and friends.

For the last two years, our stars had finally aligned and we were together. We have always had a strong bond even in friendship that just intensified while being togetherHe was so proud of his daughter, his greatest accomplishment in life, and always spoke so fondly of his memories with her and their trips to Yankee Stadium and so much more. Justin had gotten an executive producer credit on a film project with me and was one of my biggest supporters and I loved him immenselyI'm beyond devastated losing my best friend and fiancé so suddenly and my heart goes out to his daughter and family.

I am so very sorry to learn of Justin's passing. He lived briefly with me and my Nana and I got to know him. My Nana considered him a good friend and loved him. He was definitely not the average guy. He always talked about his daughter and was very much a proud dad. After my nana passed, he kept his word to me and took in, loved and cherished my nana's cat Nia with whom he had bonded with while he lived there.
My heart goes out to his family and Melissa.
