Justin Craig Merritt, 31, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, January 31, 2019. Justin was born in Cumberland County and was preceded in death by his uncle, Christopher H. Spivey. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Merritt Hood of Fayetteville; father, William Doug Hood of Hope Mills; stepfather, Carl Strange of Fayetteville; sister, Jennah Hood of Fayetteville; brothers, Zachary Hood of Hope Mills and Christopher Strange of Fayetteville; maternal grandmother, Jerry Merritt of Fayetteville; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Ferrah of Hope Mills; uncles, Greg Spivey of Fayetteville and Jonathan Hood of Holden Beach; nephew, Paul (Junior) Rhodes of Fayetteville; and his best friend, his dog, Blue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Justin loved fishing, being with his dad and uncle at the beach, and watching UNC games with his Uncle Greg. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I'm going to miss you buddy! We had a blast. You are always family. Sorry I missed seeing you yesterday to say good bye didn't find out till late but you know I always consedered you was family. Rest easy Justin truly missed!

You all have my deepest condolences, Justin wasn't just a good person he was also a great friend. He will live on in our hearts & our memories. my heart & my life will always have an empty space where my friend should be.
