Karen Anastasiow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2023.
Karen Ruth May Anastasiow, 67, of Livonia, MI, passed away peacefully at the home of her Son and Daughter in Law on July 10th, 2023. She was born on March 22, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter and Lillian May. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Morgan" Anastasiow, and her parents.

Karen was a loving and caring mother to her children, Zachary Dubs (Nicole Dubs) and Demetrios Anastasiow. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her granddaughters, Lillian, Daphne, and Mabel Dubs. Karen is also survived by her siblings, Barb Childress (Chuck Childress), Jim May (Laurie May), and Scott May (Joan May), along with many loved nieces and nephews. She found great joy in the company of her loving and caring partner, Jim Senko, as well as her amazing friends and cousins.

Karen attended Thurston High School in Redford, MI, and went on to have a successful career at Hallmark and Menards.

In her free time, Karen had a passion for dancing and listening to live music, throwing peace signs and wearing flowers in her hair. She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livonia, where she found solace and strength in her Lutheran faith. Karen's dedication to her church community was an integral part of her life. She was also a very active and proud member of the American Legion and the Eagles club.

A service to celebrate Karen's life will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, in Livonia at 11:00am on August 5th (a luncheon will follow the service at Holy Cross). Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

I only knew Karen for the last 4 years and in that 4 years we walked around our Village with other residents and played Bingo every week. She was a person of the sixties and was such a warm and loving person to know. We who have known her kindness and compassion are truly missing her so much!!

I got to know Karen at the American Legion. We had many fun times there. She loved to dance and have fun. Then our friendship expanded beyond those walls and we had many fun times camping, dining out, and having fun at our homes. I will miss her unique and quirky personality. I know she is dancing in heaven with Morgan

Karen was a great friend and neighbor of ours for many years while we lived in Michigan. We spent countless summer days at our pool and Karen would walk with me around the block almost every night. We would talk about our lives and dreams on those walks and often times stop at our house and have a glass of wine together. Karen's free spirit made it easy to be around her. She loved children in general and always had some little trinkets for them.
I am so sorry for your loss Zachary!
Love, Bea and Frank

Zac and De, I will ALWAYS have fun and loving memories of your mom!! She was always smiling. My favorite memory of her was when she went to the carribean and came back with a beautiful headfull of braids. She was always such an uplifting and caring friend.
I haven't seen her in years but have never forgotten her...
Peace, Karen
