Doug, oh my, I just recently learned the very sad news. I can still picture Karen as vibrant as can be while you were both here in the Yukon and also in Vancouver at the Round-up. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time. In karen's short sojourn here she surely gave much to others.

Doug - I only met Karen-Ann last March when you introduced us during PDAC. My impression was that I was meeting a very kind, loving and special person. I could also tell the absolute adoration you had for her and that she was and will remain most beloved. While there can be no replacement to her physical presence - she absolutely will remain in spirit and memories and as part of your soul. Depest sympathy

We were so sorry to hear of Karen’s passing. The fundraising efforts she did on behalf of St. Jude’s Cathedral in Iqaluit has enabled us to complete the foundation this year.
We are certain that her loss will be felt for years to come. Our prayers go out to her family and many friends.

Doug and Boys, Heather, and Megan,
We are thankful that we were with Karen for a wonderful gathering of friends, old and new, in the home of Bryan and Heather last Fall. Karen's strong embrace and bright laughter erased decades of separation between old friends and drew new friends close.
We are saddened to know now that our happy greetings were, at the same time, our sad farewells. Our deepest sympathy for your loss, and our quiet prayers for your peace, are with you.

Karen was always exceptionally generous and was constantly incredibly kind to me. I have so many wonderful memories of her, but my favorite is when we snuck across the street in Cabarete to have a drink of Malibu rum and ended up staying for probably more than an hour gossiping about our lives. I feel very sad for you Doug, Cris, Jonny and Zak, that you have lost such a generous and loving mother and wife.

Zack and Jonathan,
My deepest of sympathies go out to you and your family. It came as a great shock to hear of your news. Your mom was a wonderful, strong and caring woman; the loss of her will be felt by many. As a caregiver I give her great credit and praise for my upbringing, I have very fond memories of her and will cherish them always. She has touched many lives and will be remembered forever.

Dear Doug, Zak, and Family
I was shocked to learn about Karen. Our sons, Alex and Zak, played baseball together for a few years, and Ian coached. We had such fun during those times. Karen was always bringing refreshments and oranges to the kids on the team. She had such a wonderful laugh, and was so caring and positive. I know she will be terribly missed. You are in our thoughts and our hearts.

Doug and family, my thoughts are with you all. Having been a child-hood friend and know Karen off and on over the years, this is truly a loss to all. Karen was a good friend during my formative years. She taught me my first bad words, introduced me to international travel going to Washington by bus during the Vietnam War Era, laughter that you can't forget, and generous with her love for life. Very few leave a footprint as big as Karen's. I know she will truly be missed. My sincere sympathy to the whole family. The pain of her passing will eventually fade and her true memory and spirit will remain in our hearts.

I'm totally in shock Doug. I'm going to remember lots of great moments I had the pleasure of sharing with you and Karen. She was someone who could make a dull day seem bright and the small things seem special. The times I spent with you and Karen are vivid in my memory. She was warm and caring and an awful lot of fun to be with. She was a very special person. It's dark out these nights in Whitehorse, so I'll be watching for a shooting star. All the best to you and your family from Bob and Val Holmes.

I have had the honour of being a neighbour and friend of Karen, Doug and family for over 25 years. Over that time I watched Karen devote her life to the well being of her family, and the many other children she cared for. A truly dedicated mother, grandmother and caregiver that touched so many lives with her loving kindness. A true angel! I will miss her terribly and cherish her memory forever.

My deepest sorrow to all of you, Doug, Cris, Zak and Jonathan. I can't believe our long , long talks with the latest news of local events, the gossip, and all the details of the lives of "her Boys" has come to an end. She was such a devoted wife to you Doug(her Dougie) and the "Queen of Caregivers" not just to her boys but so many children who grew up with her loving attention. I have lost a dear friend and I will miss her and her positive personality, her great smile, and all the laughs we've had along the way.Much love to you all, Em

It is with profound sadness that we say farewell to someone who brought a sparkle whenever she enterred a room. Karen Paget will be remembered by many families she touched as a caregiver but for us it was a fundraiser she created to help rebuild the Anglican Cathedral of St. Judes in the Arctic last Nov. Karen was a one person team that raised thousands of dollars . What a dynamo she was for that event. The total success of that venture was due to her enthusiasm and commitment. Our condolences and prayers go out to her family and all at Resurrection parish who have lost a treasure.
