Karen Nancy Chambers Buesing, 81, passed away on May 5, 2018 surrounded by her family after a three year battle with cancer.
She was born to the late George and Ellen Taylor Chambers, Sept. 17, 1936 in Muncie, IN and moved several times around the country before settling in Palo Alto in sixth grade. Karen graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1954 and San Jose State University with a degree in Social Welfare, later earning elementary and secondary teaching credentials. She married Orville Buesing in 1959.
Upon graduation, Karen worked as a math analyst at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company on the Polaris and Agena-D rocket development program. After staying home to raise her children, she went back to work and was one of the first women electrical estimators, working for several prominent electrical contractors in the South Bay until she retired in 1997.
Karen was an accomplished woodworker, baker, golfer, and grandma. Her family was a member of the San Jose Sailing Club and they sailed/camped together often. She was an active member of Women's golf leagues. She leaves behind many lifelong friends.
Karen is survived by her husband Orville; brother, Taylor (Karen); children: Carol Gretchen Jung (Peter Kirwan), and Mark Buesing (Veronica); and grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, and Kendall Jung; Matthew, Michele, and Meagan Buesing.
