Karen Butler

Camarillo - Karen Butler, 84, of Camarillo, CA passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024.

Karen was born in Pleasant Plain, Ohio and moved with her family to California in 1983. She was a Registered Nurse for 50 years working in hospital emergency rooms, as an Industrial Nurse for major corporations, and later as a Registered Nurse case manager.

She spent much of her life as a volunteer on organizations that she was passionate about. She was a long-time member of the Maineville, OH Life Squad and volunteered additional time to Cincinnati's Dr. Copter as part of the Helicopter Squad responding to scenes requiring emergency air transport for patients. While living in Pine Mountain, CA she was a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and helped the community train and prepare for disaster response. As part of her dedication to the community, she obtained her Ham Radio License and was part of the Kern Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES).

She loved anything with crafts, especially sewing and painting. An adventurous spirit, she enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. When spending time with family and friends she would often be camping. As a lover of astronomy, she would stay up all hours of the night observing through her telescope and trying to catch the perfect night sky picture. She loved animals and throughout her life had many dogs that she completed adored.

Karen is survived by her daughter Kristie Thomas and son in law, Mike. She will be missed tremendously by family and friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Evelyn, and daughter, Kim Butler.
