Karen Butts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 11, 2024.
Karen Yvonne Butts, born on October 4, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Violet and Russell Waterhouse, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at North Ridge Nursing Care Center. She bravely faced an extended battle with Parkinson's Disease and associated dementia.

Karen was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School and furthered her education at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. A devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she found joy and solace in playing the piano during church services, a testament to her deep faith and love for music.

Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, George Windler, and her second husband, David Butts. She is survived by her loving children, Kenneth (Kim) Windler and Kristi (Chad) Kucera, and her cherished sister, Leone (Dan) Schmeltz. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Sophie, Marissa, and Hannah, who brought immense joy to her life. Karen also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who

will remember her fondly.

Her life was enriched by simple pleasures, such as gathering with family, watching classic episodes of Star Trek and The X-Files, and caring for her pet cats. These moments reflected her warmth, curiosity, and nurturing spirit.

A small private memorial service will be held at her children's home, honoring her life and the love she shared with those around her. Karen's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
