Heaven welcomed an angel before dawn on Monday morning. Despite all the prayers of family and friends, God felt that His need was greater than ours. Karen leaves to mourn her husband of 39 years Joe, as well as her two sons Kevin and Mark. She is survived by her father James Eric O'Connor, his wife Marjorie, as well as her sister Marion and her brother Stephen, all from Cincinnatti, Ohio. She will be deeply missed by many relatives and friends. Karen retired as school secretary at Miss Edgars and Miss Cramps School in June 2013 after 22 years of service. She always said that the girls at E.C.S. were like the daughters she never had. She touched many of their lives as well as being touched by many of them. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Owen for his effort in treating Karen. Dr. Marc Hamel, you know how much your sessions meant to Karen; she was always looking forward to talking with you. Vivianne Amos, her pivot nurse, how can we ever thank you for your continuous efforts to help and reassure Karen. The nursing staff on the Oncology floor as well as in Palliative care, you were truly very special. Sue Robert, you were always there for both Karen and Joe. Members of the family and friends who were at the hospital with us, your presence and words of comfort were truly appreciated. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Centre funéraire Côte- des-Neiges. Funeral at Madre dei Cristiani Parish (7935 rue Lefebvre, Lasalle Qc H8N 2A9) at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Notre- Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cedars Cancer Institute, in loving memory of Karen O'Connor.
