Karen Michelle Robinson Fuller
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." - Author Unknown
Mrs. Karen Michelle Robinson Fuller, of Petersburg, VA, inhaled her first breath on October, 20, 1953, at Kenner Army Hospital, Ft. Lee, VA, and exhaled her last breath on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the 4th born child of Ivory and John Robinson, Jr. and grew up in a close-knit family of four children, including her big brothers, John Wesley III, Juan, and baby sister, Johna. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ivory Mae Rogers Robinson, stillborn sister, Sharon, and the father of her children Robert L. "Mini" Rives. Throughout her life, Karen truly embodied the spirit of the saying, "Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath."
As a young girl, Karen grew up in the Delectable Heights of Petersburg until her family moved to the Westview and Birdville neighborhood. She often entertained friends at the family's kitchen table or while having socials in the family's basement at 1024 Patterson Street. She loved to cook and was well known for her delicious, homemade rolls.
After graduating Petersburg High School in 1973, she raised her three young children, Isa, Shonna, and Robert in the Westview community. She enjoyed cooking for the Steven Kent Restaurant and Hill's Market, in addition to providing customer service at West End Pharmacy. When she finished business college, she launched a career as Substance Abuse Counselor with The Alcohol Treatment Center in Manassas, VA. After her mother's death in 1990, Karen replaced her mom at the Petersburg OBGYN, as well as, the Riverview Physicians for Women Clinics in Colonial Heights, VA. Several years later, she moved on to become a department manager at Macy's in Southpark Mall. Karen, affectionately known as "Spizzy," was the rock for her three adult children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Once her breathing became more difficult with duties associated with the large retail business, she decided to focus on her health and help raise her grandchildren. Recently she became an entrepreneur as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant with Team C3: Chic Committed CEO's. In her spare time, Karen continued to cook and entertain friends and family. She was always the person who gathered everyone for birthdays, reunions, dinners, showers or other family celebrations. Out of all the good she did for others, nothing brought her more joy than caring for and showing love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Isa M. Hill, and Shonna R. Parham (Monroe "Bubba") both of Petersburg, VA; son, Robert L. Robinson (Shanece) of Charlotte, NC.; grandsons, James Hevon Bennette, Damone Blizzard, Clifton Robinson, Ivan S. Hill, Jr., Shane Penn, Isaiah S. Hill, and Kaden Robinson; granddaughters, Takeyah J. 'Kee Kee' Robinson, Ivory M. D. Blizzard, and Arielle S. L. Robinson; great-grandsons, Aasim Blizzard and Sevyn Robinson; great-granddaughters, Halisyn D. Boone and Aubriana Worrell; adopted grandson, Nyreik Phelps; father, John W. Robinson, Jr. (Diane) of Petersburg; five brothers, John Wesley Robinson, III (Abebu) of Fort Washington, MD, Juan W. Robinson of Petersburg, VA, Ronnie Hall (Debra) of Virginia Beach, VA, J. Warren Robinson (Tiffany) of Chesterfield, VA, Jamal W. Robinson of Petersburg, VA; two sisters, Johna W. Vazquez (who she affectionately called "Jennifer"), of Dinwiddie, VA, and Sonya Brown of Ettrick, VA; one maternal uncle, Paul E. "Sonny" Griffin, Jr. (Dorothy) of Chesterfield, VA; and two paternal aunts, Ida "Ant Mickey" Thweatt of Colonial Heights, VA, and Sharona Stephenson of Portsmouth, VA; devoted friends, Kimberly Jefferson, Carolyn Jones El, Adrian Dance, Brenda "Kay' Graves, Jackie Brown, Wanda Corbett, Deidra Shepard, Annette Smith-Lee (Bobby), Edith "Bonnie Cake' Mason, and Nat Moore; devoted cousins, Paulette Tyson, Patricia Crocker, Chandra Rives, Jacqueline Rives, Marvin Williams, Charlette "Sunshine" Fairchild, Josette Miles and Danielle Newman; adopted sons, Tyrone Bradley and Broderick Moss; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family including the Birdville Westview community.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 3, 2021 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., Pastor. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

I am overwhelmingly saddened by your passing. However, I can rejoice that you have left a legacy of love and family! My sister and I often laugh regarding our last time that we saw you at Macy's when she didn't recognize you, but stated "she looks like Miss Ivory!" Your kind heartedness was evidenced when you were a young child when your mother would bring you and your younger siblings to Hopewell to visit us! You always made sure that they were courteous and on their best behavior - especially Juan! As he was always saying something!
May you rest peacefully my sister as your assignment on this side has been completed!

Karen was always so youthful and full of energy! My big sister treated me more like a daughter than a sister and we were very close. I'll miss our long talks, silly laughter, fav reality shows, delicious meals, shopping together, and daily texts of encouragement. Rest in Heaven, Beautiful! You will be sorely missed.

To my dear friend Johna and family,

I’m saddened to learn of the passing of Karen, but very thankful for having known her. My memories date back to the many visits made to Patterson St. I can still hear her calling Isa, Shonna and Pug to come eat. My prayers are with my friend.
