Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2006.
Mrs. Carol Feller Omps, 73, of Layside Estates, Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. For the past two years, Carol had made her home with her daughter, Bobbie Ann, and her husband Kenny Harper, in Great Falls, VA.

Carol was born on April 1, 1933 in Romney, WV. She was the youngest of eight children born to Raymond L. and Delpha May Bean Feller.

She married Ellis J. Omps on November 23, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1995.

Carol retired in 1996 from Crown, Cork and Seal as a Quality Control Inspector. She graduated from Romney High School, Romney, WV, in 1952. She was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.

Carol was an avid collector. A few of her collections included P. Buckley Moss prints, Department 56, and Hummels. She also loved going to estate auctions.

Carol leaves her son, Mark and his wife, Kim, and daughter, Devin, of Winchester, VA and her daughter, Bobbie Ann, and her husband, Kenny Harper, of Great Falls, VA. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard Feller of Winchester, VA, and Homer Feller of Levels, WV, and her sister, Hilda Daugherty of Clearbrook, VA. She is also survived by her three “special” grandchildren, Trey Daugherty, his son Trey Austin, and Andy Daugherty.

Her sisters, Florence Godlove, Betty Buckley, and Mary Jo Buckley, and her brother, William “Billy” Feller, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ron Potter officiating. Burial will be in the Indian Mound Cemetery, Romney, WV.

Pallbearers will be: David Brown, Carol’s nephew Berry Daugherty, Rodney DeHaven, Jeff Dunlap, Darnell Earhart, Reid Hoak, Bob Hott, Monte Nail, Carol’s cousin William “Willie” Omps, C. William “Billy” Orndoff, Jr., Carol’s nephew Michael Teets, and Brett Patterson.

Dear Bobbie, Kenny and family,

I just arrived home from Virginia our Funk Family reunion was this past week end. Helen phoned to tell me your Mother had passed away. We did not know that she was not in good health.

I almost want to leave this message page blank because no words seem appropriate enough to convey the sympathy that I want to express. No one can know exactly how you feel during this difficult time. I am truly sorry for and saddened by your loss. There are no words that can begin to express what is in my heart. What the heart gives away is never gone…it is kept in the hearts of others forever. Please take comfort in knowing that she has an eternal home in heaven let God be your refuge and your strength. You are in our thoughts and prayers. You have our deepest sympathy. God will hold your heart and hand through the storm of sorrow. She was blest with a beautiful loving caring family.

Love and prayers,

Doris Linn and Helen Foley

This past year has been a really trying time for you and Kenny. I've admired your dedication to your mother during her illness. she couldn't have asked for a more devoted daughter.

Just as you brought comfort to your mother, I hope that her memory will bring comfort to you.

With love,
