Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2025.
Karen Weinert Haines UPPER Karen Weinert Haines, a proud BOI, passed away peacefully in LaMarque, Texas, on October 4, 2025. Born in Galveston, Karen was a lifelong Texan devoted to her family and community.

She graduated from Ball High School and earned a music education degree from Southern Methodist University. She worked abroad in Paris, France before settling in Dallas, where she co-owned Associated Executives, Inc. and afterwards Stamat, Inc. She later worked in marketing for Southwest Printing and Copying.

Karen was a longtime member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Business Network International. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Herman B. Weinert, Jr. and Ottie E. Weinert; her brother, Herman "Doc" Weinert; and her spouses, Robert D. Newman and John C. Haines III.

Though she had no children, Karen was a beloved "bonus mother and grandmother" to many. She will be remembered for her love of dogs, sports cars, dancing, crafts, travel, and her lifelong friendships.

The family thanks Bayou Pines Care Center and Novice Hospice for their compassionate care.

Karen was a loving member of our chapter for many years! She became a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas when whe was young and was loved by all. Karen always shared her life with us in the Cedar Mountain meetings and when she received her lifelong membership of 55+ years, she was tickled.
