Feb. 11, 1931 - Jan. 12, 2018
Lafayette
Margaret (Marg) Dann had a smile that both dazzled the viewer and hid well her private nature. Born in a suburb of Vancouver, B.C. Canada, she married fellow Canadian Stan Dann, then soon took off for big adventures in California. While Stan attended art school in Los Angeles, glamorous Marg engaged work as a respected bank teller, serving movie star clients and high rollers. After Marg and Stan moved to the Bay Area, eventually settling in Lafayette, the couple had their children Vincent and Lynda. Marg and Stan liked to entertain a vivid array of creative, funny and loyal friends, with Marg utilizing her own dry humor and discreet friendship, as well as her culinary talents. An elegant woman, Marg maintained her polished look throughout her life. She supported her husband through his triumphs and challenges as artist and human. She held several administrative positions, including many years at Lafayette Physical Therapy, but her favorite job was as a longtime volunteer at the Lafayette Library bookstore, until just a few months before she passed. Marg was a voracious reader her entire life. Predeceased by her husband Stan and son Vincent, she knew both the grief of caring for a son with Schizophrenia and great love as his mother and champion. Survivors include daughter Lynda and loving son-in-law Jorge Rojas, life-long friends including John Pratt and his family, dear friend Marianne Diffenderfer and her connected circle, and Canadian sisters Eleanor Miller and Donna Beijor, sister-in-law Lorraine Dann, plus extended families. At Margaret's request, there will be no memorial. She will be greatly missed.
Donations to the Brain and Behavior Foundation are appreciated.
