Karen Joyce Snapp ABINGDON, Va. Karen Joyce Snapp passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. She was born in Smyth Co, Va., on March 15, 1947, to the late Thomas and Annie Montgomery Dye. She had lived most of her life in Washington Co., Va. She enjoyed the love of her dogs and painting, knitting, crocheting, and attending craft shows. She was a member of the Mears Club and the Mountain Empire Amateur Radio Society. Karen worked as a pharmacy assistant at East Gate Pharmacy for several years and most recently worked as a bookkeeper for Roger's Garage. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Snapp; son, James Anthony Snapp; and two sisters, Henrietta Sexton and Margaret Kathleen "Kitty" Brittenham. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa L. Counts and husband Greg of Abingdon, Sheila Snapp Widner and Ron of Abingdon; one sister, Anne Rouse and husband Dennis of Galax; four grandchildren, Kevin Widner, Kaila Keast, Gaelen and Connor Counts; two brother-in-laws, Ronald Brittenham and Warren Sexton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service and anytime at the family home, 538 Norfolk Street, Abingdon, Va.
