Karen Vieth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2024.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Ann Vieth (nee Neumann) on May 3, 2024. Karen was a remarkable woman -- a beacon of light and love to all who knew her -- and she will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Born on December 6, 1953, Karen was a beacon of kindness, generosity and love throughout her 70 years of life. Karen grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois, graduated from Wilmington University, and had a successful career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), IBM, and FCN Bank. She was an avid gardener, and like her mother, had a magical green-thumb that seemed able to make anything grow. She was a phenomenal cook and a talented baker, and carried on and shared the traditions of the Slavic foods that she had grown up with, most notably at the holidays. More than anything, Karen loved her family and friends, and eagerly served as the central planner for the various reunions and parties that would bring them all together. Karen will be remembered by all who knew her as the life of any party -- a loving woman who made everyone feel comfortable and was quick with a laugh and a smile.

Karen is survived by her beloved family, her husband, Randy, her son, Jason (Heather), and her daughter, Andrea. She also leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren and a large extended family and group of friends that loved her dearly. All are left with the valuable lessons of love and kindness that Karen imparted on them, and all the precious memories that they made together.

In celebration of Karen's life, a private memorial will be held for family and friends at a later date that will be shared soon.

One of my earliest memories of Karen was when we had a sleepover at age 6 or 7 at her house and waking up to her crying I had slept on her curls. As a young child her mom dressed her in cute dresses and hair styles and Karen was treated by family as the princess with 3 brothers! And this is not to say she wasn´t fun, generous and kind as a child - because she was. But I think her being treated as a bit of a favored child didn´t spoil her it made Karen into one of the most family loving, kind and generous adults with her time and spirit. Karen was a true oldest sibling looking out for all her family and a loving woman with a great sense of humor and a teasing laugh. I have so many happy, special memories of our times together. Jason is my God-child and holds a place in my heart forever and Andrea was the cutest, silliest little girl and still has a great smile like her mom. I know I will miss Karen the rest of my life and have no doubt others will as well.

With Love and gratitude for all the memories,
Cousin, Jane (One of Karen´s sisters from another mother)
