Karen Frances Deskin Windsor

WINDSOR, KAREN F. DESKIN Karen Frances Deskin Windsor, 73, of West Haven, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Karen was born in New Haven, January 12, 1940, the daughter of the late Charles and Frances Hein Deskin. Before retirement she had been employed for 29 years for the United States Government and proudly dedicated many of those years as a Prisoner Support Specialist with the U.S. Marshall Service, Department of Justice. Mom held a deep love of family and was often an inspiration to those who knew her. Pearls of wit and wisdom effervesced quickly in her agile mind and so much of what she knew and enjoyed was self-taught. Sewing, crafting, home and automotive repairs, baking, and a long list of other interests, coalesced to make her our “Renaissance Mom.” She loved the beach, camping, and traveling, especially in the American southwest. We will ever treasure her dry and witty humor, adopting it into our own daily lives as a tribute to our dear mother, deeply loved and greatly missed. Mom is survived by us, her four children, Kathleen (Joseph) Guarino, Michael Corr, Kenneth (Roberta) Corr, all of New Haven, and Patricia (Olegario) Rosete, of West Haven; six dear grandchildren, Joshua Morse, of West Haven, Joseph Corr, of New Haven, Alicia Corr, of Littleton, NH, Damien Corr, of New Haven, and Diego and Neeko Rosete, both of West Haven; two cherished great grandchildren, Kaylie Hollister, and Tyler Morse, both of West Haven; brothers, Charles Deskin, of Bridgeport, CT,; James Deskin, of West Haven and Robert Deskin, of Arizona; her sister-in-law, Joanne Deskin; her nieces, Deanna Cusano and Carenna Deskin; two nephews, Michael John Deskin and Timothy Deskin; and a dear friend M.J. Broad. Family and friends are invited to call at the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A service of prayer and shared memories will be held at 6:30. Burial will be private.
