Karen Wingert

Abilene - Karen Towne Wingert, 61, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Born in Alton, Illinois to Charles and Linda Towne, she later moved with her family to Houston, Texas before marrying Chris Wingert in 1981. The couple settled in Big Spring in 1984 where they lived for 27 years while raising a family. She and Chris moved to Abilene in 2011.

Karen's loves were Jesus Christ, her husband and family, and all teenagers. She was active in First Methodist Church of Big Spring, Wylie Methodist of Abilene, Walk to Emmaus, and Youth Ministries.

She is survived by her husband Chris Wingert of Abilene; her mother Linda Towne of Houston; children Brian and Amanda Wingert of Big Spring, Crystal and Michael Hutchinson of Collierville Tennessee, Kelly and Tyler Reynolds of Fort Campbell Kentucky; four brothers, two sisters, nine special grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Karen may have left this world but her legacy lives on in the lives of all she touched.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 S in Abilene. Funeral Service will be held at Wylie United Methodist Church on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10 am with interment following in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration

We are so sorry and sad for you all. Karen was such a happy, smiling, loving sweet girl, a true, sincere friend to be around. Our hearts and love is with you at this sad time. She was too young, too much to offer to kids and grandkids yet. At least my parents were mid 80's, but it is still hard. We pray that good memories will overshadow your sadness. We have great memories of your wonderful family at Lake Ivie and miss you all.
Love, Richard & Debra Halfmann
