Karin Minnick Schulz, beloved mother, grandmother and wife, 87, of Kenilworth, IL passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on January 17, 2025. Karin was born on February 20, 1937, in Evanston, IL to the late Benton and Jeannette Minnick. She is survived by her children Julie (Matthew) Halbower, Dr. Pamela Schulz, and Bill Schulz; her sister Kristin (Malcolm) Caskey; her grandchildren Veronica and Samantha Halbower and Abby and Drew Duszynski; Karin was preceded in death by her husband Bill and sister Kaila.

Karin attended Roycemore Academy and Northwestern University, where she met her Bill, her husband of 63 years. Karin was a loyal Northwestern fan and season ticket holder for NU football and basketball games. She and Bill traveled to cheer the NU football team at several bowl games.

A devoted mother, Karin was very active in her children�s activities including music and sports at Glenbrook North High School. She was also a dedicated teacher for many years at numerous Northbrook District 27 schools, including Hickory Point, Shabonee School and Wood Oaks Junior High. Karin was an active member of various community groups including the Northbrook Chapter of PEO and the Cardinal Capers camping group. Karin and Bill were early members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Northbrook.

As a lifelong Cubs fan, she and Bill were also present to see her Cubbies win the National League Pennant before going on the win the World Series in 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7th at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1133 Pfingsten Road, Northbrook, Illinois 60062. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Northwestern Wildcat Excellence Fund or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
