Karl Weaver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2013.
Karl S. Weaver, 83 of Tempe, AZ passed away peacefully to be with our heavenly Father on April 14, 2013. Karl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Karl was born on June 1, 1929 in Greenwich Ohio, the fourth son of Kent S. and Mary V. (Henderson) Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents Kent and Mary, brothers William Weaver and Paul Weaver. After graduating from high school Karl enlisted in the US Army, serving his country proudly for 24 years retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer–4. While serving on his initial tour in Germany he met the love of his life, Sonja Sippel, they married and began their journey through life together. During his distinguished military career that included three tours of Vietnam, Karl was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, numerous service and commendations medals, and the Army Parachute Badge. Karl continued his education while on active duty working on a law diploma through night and extension courses. After retiring from the Army in 1972, he began a second career working for Motorola in Scottsdale AZ till 1993. It was during this time Karl became very actively involved with his other love, his Church, the New Apostolic Church. Working tirelessly, Karl served as an ordained minister for his church for over 15 dedicated years serving our Heavenly Father and helping those in need. It was some health issues in 1993 that forced Karl to slow down and enter full retirement. He continued serving his church in other capacities till his death. Karl is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Sonja; son Edward (Karen) Weaver, daughter Pamela Weaver, granddaughters Angela Weaver, and Christina (Matt) Stone, brothers Howard (Maxine) Weaver, and Robert (Sammee) Weaver and numerous nieces and nephews. Karl will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him. The family would like to express our deepest thank you for the compassion and care Karl received from the staff of Friendship Village (Hospice of the Valley) in Tempe during his last few days, especially Jen, Rochelle and Krag. Visitation will be held from 3 – 6 PM Sunday April 21 at Green Acres Mortuary with the funeral service with full military honors being held at 1200 noon, Monday April 22 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. We extend our warmest condolences to the entire Weaver Family. We surround you in love and respect at a difficult time in your life. Pr. Karl Weaver was an outstanding example of faith and dedication to many causes, most notable the Lord's cause. He set a very fine example for all of us of "giving your all" to what he loved, and patience in suffering. May we all not forget his example.

He always was a beautiful smile that would be right behind me and surprise me (trying to startle me)! :) Most of all, he made me feel uplifted and special when he first told me I looked "pretty cool" with my oxygen tank strapped to my wheelchair a few years ago (because he had an oxygen tank too)! From then on, we joked about how "pretty cool" we looked, and not everyone was as lucky as we were! What a young, sweet soul he was, even into his 80's!

Praying for him in eternity and for all of his dear family and friends...Diana Haudek
