This is some time after the fact, but I had moved from Vegas and learned through a friend about Dr. Barin's cancer and later passing. My entire family saw Dr. Barin for our regular dental work when we lived in Vegas. She was a truly special soul, one who touched each person who was fortunate enough to meet her. Condolences from my family to the Barin family and all who worked with her, for both Dr. Barin and her husband's untimely deaths.

Dearest Siamak and the entire Barin family,
With a heavy heart I just heard about the loss of your beautiful Katy and her loving Kayvan. The loss is huge. I hear my dear sister Helen talking to me about her friends Katy and Kayvan. I remember them all in school together. I remember her telling me about Katy and Siamak and her visits to their appartement. I have glimpses of stories she told of the time they shared in school together. Helen loved Katy and Kayvan. My beautiful sister Helen also passed away in 2008. I understand the loss. Their love is now transmitted through their beautiful children. I know your heart is aching. We will miss them forever but joy will arise through the light carried by the lovely children that carry their beauty and memories. . I send you all my love.
Love Katherine

Dr. Barin possessed a rare gift of beauty in spirit and appearance, along with complete compassion for humanity. It is rare to find a professional so present with a patient, making them feel loved and at ease. I'm so sorrowed to hear of her passing and she only touched my life as my dentist for 2 years. Prayers for her entire family. She will be greatly missed by all.

Tribute to Katy Barin
Reaching through the shock and grief of losing my beloved dentist, and down through the layers of gratitude for the gifts of her kindness and the sense of her full presence at each six month checkup, I come to the grace at the core of All Being, that place of knowing that every wave of every particle that was our Katy remains with us in this world. All the photons that ever bounced off her face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by her smile, have raced off, forever changed, to go on forever. For in death, the atoms that composed Katy Barin have merely been repurposed. All energy, which originated during the Big Bang, will always be around, thus her light,' the essence of her energy, will continue to echo throughout space until the end of time: from ashes to ashes, dust to dust, star stuff to star stuff. And while she will be deeply missed, her kindness will continue on in this world through each of us whom she blessed with her gracious presence. May it be so.

Not knowing you personally, but informed by my daughter, Kristin, of your passing. Kristin went on to tell me you had been her dentist for the past 10 yrs. Kristin could not speak high enough of the kind of person you were in life. Not only in your professionalism, but you had gone beyond and truly cared for all around you. She then went on to explain that you had lost your husband within 6 months prior to your passing, my heart goes out to your children, Aria & Keon, and may they find comfort in knowing that God had a bigger and better plan for both their Mom & Dad. May your presence continue to be felt by both of your children and may God's light continue to shine through you guiding them both to a safe and prosperous future. Thank you for all you did for my daughter, Kristin. You were on earth, as you are today, an ANGEL.
Sincerely,
Lisa

For having seen a new dentist for me for only 5 or 6 times over the last few years . . . my, what an impact. I was instantly "sold" when I first met her, and that first impression only matured into something more. The obvious strong competence in her profession, her physical beauty, her personality undoubtedly transcending both those first two factors.
I last saw her as a patient on the day her husband passed away in a tragic accident. She and I talked with her not knowing about what had happened. Nor certainly did I. It was only several days later that the newspaper reported on her husband's fate, and putting two and two together (with confirmation from her office staff) I realized that my interaction that day had been while her husband had died and she had not known about it yet. The newspaper report also mentioned her medical diagnosis which I had not realized she was battling. I cried a lot that day realizing what I'd learned.
And when her office emailed me with the ultimate news I'm not ashamed to admit that I lost another day in grief and tears. It is not often in life that you realize you've had the good fortune to have met and known someone -- however briefly -- whom impacted and affected you more than you could have ever realized.
I have not said anything that is any more or less than what her many other patients feel, I'm sure. I luckily have visited and much enjoyed Montreal, and I take some small relief in realizing that she has returned there/home for services.
RIP
May God Bless Katy's Family With Everlasting Courage.
