Kate Cotten Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 24 to Nov. 26, 2023.
Kate Cotten died on November 6, 2023 at the age of 75. She was born on August 14, 1948 to Sam and Kathryn Cotten in Juneau, Alaska. She is predeceased by her brother Russell and parents. Kate worked many jobs in Alaska from commercial fishing in Valdez to being one of the first women to work on the Alyeska Pipeline in the 1970s driving huge ice road trucks.

Kate spent the last 40 years in Tucson selling real estate with several companies and becoming a real estate broker owning Cotten Real Estate beginning in 2001. She enjoyed selling homes, meeting people and matching buyers with their perfect home.

Kate had the biggest heart and a beautiful smile. She was incredibly witty, fun and adventurous. Kate was a loyal friend and a devoted sister. She made everyone who came into her life feel welcome and important.

Kate leaves two brothers, Sam Cotten and Lamar Cotten in Alaska, and sister Eileen Jordan in Massachusetts as well as nephews and a niece. The family is especially grateful to Carolyn Goldschmidt, Kate's long-time and devoted friend who cared for Kate during her last difficult year dealing with cancer.

A celebration of Kate's life will be held in March in Tucson. For details, please email Carolyn [email protected].

I loved sitting and hearing Kate's adventures in Alaska. She was my neighbor for a few years and friend for many. Life can get in the way and I thought to call you. We are very sad to hear the news. You are missed by the Hayes family.
