Katherine B. Davenport, 97, of Mardela Springs died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late George W. Blades and Annie M. Howard Blades. She was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Mardela Springs and retired from Mardela Manufacturing Company in 1976. She is survived by two sons, Ronald B. Davenport and his wife, Mary Jane of Delmar and Wayne M. Davenport and his wife, Marlene of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Bill Davenport, Tom Davenport and his wife, Anna, Wendy Shores and her husband, David, Debra Christian and her husband, Drew, and Theresa Strouth; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erman Davenport in 1975; three brothers, Lee, Howard, and Arnold Blades; and a sister, Lauretta Price. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Her grandson Rev. Drew Christian will officiate; assisted by Rev. Glenn Lyburn. Interment will follow in Mardela Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel Methodist Church, C/O Bill Wright, P.O. Box 301, Mardela Springs, MD 21837 or Mardela Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 199, Mardela Springs, MD 21837.
