KATHERINE NELSON FISHER  EDISON-CHASE  "Fifi"  
On December 17, 2016 Katherine Edison - Chase died peacefully at Rockville Nursing Home. Fifi, as she was affectionately known, was born on January 9, 1926 in Washington, DC and was the only child of H. Cochran Fisher and Marie Nelson Fisher. A native Washingtonian, Fifi attended Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1943, and then graduated from Wells College in 1947. Fifi, who lived in Kensington, Maryland throughout her married life, was a passionate lover of art and served as a docent at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She joined the SAAM in 1968 and enthusiastically led tours sharing her love of art with many visitors, until the age of 89. She also pursued her appreciation of flowers, as an independent florist, providing arrangements for special occasions. She is survived by her son, Noel Cochran Edison of London England; her three step-children, Eric Chase, Don Chase and Sue Chase; her four grandchildren, Marie Edison, Lauren Edison, Thomas Mason and Robin Mason; and her step-grandson, Matt Chase. Fifi was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Thomas George Edison; her daughter, Holly Edison Mason; step-grandson Eric Chase; and her second husband, Wilbur P. Chase. A celebration of Fifi's life will be scheduled at a later date.
