Katherine Hogan Obituary

WELLESLEY HILLS — Katherine Frances Hogan, 99 years, died peacefully on Nov. 28, 2008, at Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley Hills. Katherine had formerly resided in Centerville, Scituate, Brookline and Newton.

She was the daughter of the late James F. and Anne (Grady) Hogan, and beloved sister to the late Helen P. Hogan and Mary Burns. Katherine leaves her two dear brothers, William E. Hogan of Manomet and James F. Hogan of Newton. Katherine was the devoted aunt to Jack, Elizabeth, Katherine, Virginia, Anne, Jane, Carolyn, Jim and Louise. She was also survived by 16 great-nieces and great-nephews and seven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was a graduate of Newton High, class of 1927, and the Mary Frances School of Elocution.

Career-oriented, her employment was in the shipping industry with the Dollar Steamship Line and Nacirema Operating Co., then later as the first female employee with the Boston Marine Society.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S. Main St., Centerville, on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. Visiting hour in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial is in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Dear Captain Hogan & Family,
John & I are unable to attend the funeral on Saturday but we wanted to extend our sympathies to you your family. I was a classmate of Anne's at Boston City Hospital . I know how beloved "Aunt Katherine" was. with sympathy for your loss , John& Linda Dunphy
