Immel, Katherine Marie
After a hard fought battle with leukemia, Katherine "Katie" Marie Immel passed away peacefully at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago on Friday, August 7, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sheboygan on July 24, 1984, the daughter of Daniel Immel and Karen (Farrelly) Immel. Katie was a 2002 graduate of Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School and received her Business and Marketing degrees from Carthage College in Kenosha in 2006. Carthage is where she met her future husband, Mark Morrison. They were happily planning their August 29, 2009 wedding prior to Katie's illness. Katie was currently in the marketing and sales division of The Weather Channel in downtown Chicago. She was an avid cross country runner at Lutheran High School, participating at the State meet in her senior year. She continued running cross country while at Carthage. Family and friends were most important to Katie, especially her brother, Brian. She enjoyed life to its fullest, packing a lot of adventure, life and love into her 25 years of life. Surviving Katie are her parents, Daniel (Yvonne) Immel of Cleveland, OH, and Karen (James Westdorp) Immel of Sheboygan; her brother, Brian (and girlfriend Allison Free) of Sheboygan; her fiance, Mark Morrison of Chicago; maternal grandparents, James (Marlys) Farrelly of Sheboygan; maternal step-grandparents, Vernon (Marion) Schacht of West Bend; Katie's Godmother and special Aunt Christine Simpson of Park Ridge, IL, loving aunts, uncles, cousins, future in-laws, other relatives and many friends. Katie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Darwin and Gladys Immel, and her cousin, Luke Tenpas. A private family service will be held for Katie, and a gathering and Celebration of her Life will be announced at a later date. Please send condolences and memorials, in lieu of flowers to W1779 Bender Road, Sheboygan WI 53083. Memorials will be used to benefit Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School and Cancer Research in Katie's name. Katie's family wishes to thank the countless people who gave them and Katie comfort, support and prayers during her illness. Special thanks to those people who stayed by Katie's side during the last weeks of her life so that she was never alone.
