Katherine Manwell

Katherine Elizabeth "Katie" Manwell, 69, passed away on June 19, 2025, in Strongsville, Ohio.

Born on April 4, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, Katie grew up with an appreciation for learning and connection which shaped her life and career. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1974 and went on to earn both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College. Her dedication to education was unwavering; she spent the majority of her professional life as an elementary school teacher (Cleveland Heights), nurturing the unique abilities of each student she encountered. Later in her career, she transitioned into administration (Fairview Park), continuing to support students and educators with the same passion and care.

Katie had a gift for conversation and a heart open to everyone. Whether catching up with family or chatting with a new acquaintance, she brought stories and attentiveness to every interaction. Her love for spending time with family and friends was evident in the joy she found during gatherings, playing card games, or competing at trivia.

Creative at heart, Katie enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and making crafts during her downtime. She also had a fondness for medical and crime shows. In recent years, you would likely find her reading novels at the park or relaxing on the front porch in Brunswick.

Katie is lovingly remembered by her brother Craig L. Manwell (Patricia), sister Linda A. Gohr (Carl), and as an aunt and great-aunt to many cherished loved ones. She was preceded in death by both her parents, as well as her brothers Thomas G. Manwell (Ginger) and Joseph P. Manwell, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Das Weinhaus Winery & Vineyards 3232 Erhart Rd. in Litchfield, OH. Please join Katie's family for fond recollections and light refreshments.
