Katherine Vonk

Vonk, Katherine 12/30/1981 - Katherine Sue Vonk, age 34, was called home on Monday, August 22, 2016 after a valiant fight with liver and kidney failure. Katherine was born December 30, 1981 to Henk and Jean Vonk in Grand Rapids, MI. She was a graduate of Calvin Christian High School in 2000 and of Kendall College of Art and Design in 2004. She studied to be a graphic designer and also took several photography classes at Grand Rapids Community College. Kat worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years. She was a freelance photographer and graphic designer. She was always up for an adventure and traveled to Europe, Mexico, and extensively across the state of Michigan with Mackinaw City being one of her favorite destinations. She enjoyed creating art, listening to music, cooking, spending time with friends, playing games, and being with her cats. Kat will be sorely missed by her parents, Henk and Jean Vonk; her sister Jantina Eenigenburg Vonk, her husband Royle Eenigenburg Jr and children Jeremiah and Josiah Eenigenburg; her brother Fritz Vonk and children Bethanie (Vonk) Boven, Autumn, Lauren, and Kaylee Vonk; her brother Mike Vonk, his wife Karen Vonk and children Madeline, Mason, and Anna Vonk; her sister Rose (Vonk) Petrowski and her husband Mark Petrowski; her sister Alisha (Vonk) Pennington, her husband Gene Paul Pennington and children Myles and McKenzie Pennington; her sister Emily Vonk; and all of her uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents James and Winifred Besteman and Fritz and Jet Vonk. A memorial service to celebrate Kat's life will be held on Friday, August 26, with a visitation from 4-6pm at Bethany United Reformed Church in Wyoming, MI. A funeral service will immediately follow.
