Kathleen Arling

Kathleen Ann Arling November 15, 1925 March 4, 2011 The Arling family is very sad to announce the sudden passing of Kathleen (Kay) Arling. She left this world gently in her sleep at home on March 4. She is survived by Ted, her loving husband of 62 years, and her children Joe (Barb) Arling, Pat (Brian) Proudlove, Tom Arling, and Susan (Chip) Arling. Also left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren Anna (Craig) Friesen, Brad (Colleen) Proudlove, Jodi Arling and Michael Arling and her great grandchildren Ella, Lily and Neko. She is also survived by her brothers Jack (Hazel) Redmond of Victoria and Leary (Donna) Redmond of Beechy. She was predeceased by her only sister Audrey Redmond in 2007. Kay was a graduate of the Home Economics College at the U of S. She returned to University as a mature student and completed the requirements for her certificate in Interior Design and was a proud member of the Interior Design Association of Canada. She was a dedicated homemaker for many years and an accomplished watercolour painter, seamstress and gardener. She was a fiercely proud woman and her family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending many summers at the lake (Wakaw and Clearwater) entertaining friends and family alike. She took great joy in her children and great grandchildren. She waged a valiant struggle with Alzheimer's during the last years of her life and ultimately won that battle as she left this earth before the disease was able to steal all her memories and dignity. We are very proud of Dad who took over the role of caregiver and did an amazing job. A special thank you to all those that helped make her last days more comfortable and allowed her to remain at home until her passing. Prayers to be held Wednesday afternoon, March 9, 2011 at 4 pm at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (4th Avenue and 25th Street) and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 10 am at St. Francis Xavier Church (222 Willow Street).
