Kathleen Detherage Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2024.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen Sheryl Detherage, 67, of Modesto, CA. She left us to be at peace on July 2, 2024 in her home after a battle with cancer.

Kathleen was born on February 20, 1957, in Modesto, CA to Manuel Homen. She married her high school sweetheart, Matthew Detherage, in Carmel, CA in 1983 and settled in Modesto, CA where they raised two children, Lisa and Matthew Jr.

As a woman of many talents, she worked many memorable years with the Modesto Bee. Kathleen then started college at San Joaquin Delta College enrolling in the Psychiatric Technician Program where she graduated with honors and started her career with California Department of Corrections.

Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her hobbies included reading, watching movies, trips out of town, rescuing animals, and spending every moment she could with her grandchildren (school events, going to the movies, soccer tournaments, picking up, and dropping off at school, etc.) She loved to laugh and dance.

She is survived by her husband Matthew; Son Matthew Jr; Daughter Lisa, Son in law Tony; Sisters Cynthia and Michelle; 3 grandchildren: Olivia, Alexander and Nathan; and her many pets that she considered family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:00am at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Acacia Memorial Park.
