Kathleen Fishel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2022.
April 1, 1935 - October 20, 2022 Kathleen Isabelle Fishel, 87, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Dementia and Parkinson's. Born to parents John Norbert Rupp, and mother Josephine Main McIlroy, she grew up as an only child in Los Angeles, CA. Losing her mother early in life she was raised by both her grandparents and her loving Uncle Harry, who provided for her. In 1953 Kathy married Gerald "Jerry" Fishel, the love of her life, and they started their family in Los Angeles, CA. After coming from broken homes, both had always dreamed of having a large family. They raised their five children in Anaheim, CA before moving to Brea in 1984. They were married for close to 68 years, until Jerry's death on January 22, 2021. For decades, their home served as a gathering place for family traditions, and celebrations and was host to many friends. She was the cornerstone for her constantly growing family and was known as Amma, not only to her grandchildren but to the kids in the neighborhood as well as the kids she took care of. She was kind, forgiving, nonjudgmental, and always nurturing with a generous and loving heart, who always saw the good in everyone. She had 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family. The last few years of her life were difficult for her, but she kept her sweet disposition through it all. We would like to thank her wonderful caregivers who looked over her with so much love and patience. Thank you, Nestor, Rhoda, Danny, Cheryl, Rollie, Elmer, & Annie. We will always be grateful to you. A bright light went dim in many hearts with the passing of Kathy, as she joined her husband in Heaven. Kathy is survived by her five children, Steve, Debbie (Chuck), Sheri (Michael), John (Tamara), and Rick (Christine), her 17 grandchildren, Shaunna, Danielle, Crystal, Colin, Nastassia, Stephen, Chris, Justin, Jacob, Danny, Gavin, Brittney, Ashley, Zak, Brandis, Montana, and Maddi, and 13 great-grandchildren, Braxton, Presley, Mason, Charley, Gage, Quinn, Cole, Adler, Cody, Hunter, Keaton, Beau, and Crew. She will be missed by all.

Many blessings to the Fishel family. I worked at the Pennysaver in sales from 1975 until 1986 and enjoyed every minute I spent with Kathy. W
My husband Joe and I spent many many holiday seasons together enjoying she and Jerry and other friends that we worked with Always having a wonderful holiday get together at her favorite Summit House. Kathy was always a love and yes you could tell her family meant everything to her. Glad she is with her special Jerry. Much love to the rest of the family, Marcia Kohler
