Orlando - Kathy Houghton of Orlando, Florida, passed away on June 23, 2023 from Liver Cancer. Kathy was born at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on April 5, 1951. Raised in Braintree, she was a 1969 graduate of Braintree High School and Bridgewater State College, Class of 1973. After graduation, she worked for the Thayer Public Library in the Children's Department.

After the Blizzard of 1978, Kathy moved to Atlanta Georgia where she was employed by JC Penny for 5 years and 5 years at the Southeastern Library Network.

In 1988, Kathy moved to join other family members that had previously settled in Orlando, Florida. In Orlando, she enjoyed visiting all the theme parks and the warm weather. She was employed by SunTrust Bank of Orlando for 26 years, before retiring in 2014.

Loving daughter of the late Walter L. and Marie E. (Burkett) Houghton, Kathy is survived by her brother Robert A. Houghton of Orlando, Florida; brother David M. Houghton & wife Elizabeth of Hampden, Maine and loving niece Samantha Houghton of Hampden, Maine; cousins David and Kathy Vincent of Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Kathy was a great friend and a big part of my life from junior high through college and beyond. We spend many hours on the telephone and driving around town in her orange Pinto. I will always miss you. Sending my love and condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. I worked with Kathy at SunTrust and she was a very kind person who enjoyed making and giving us craft items at each holiday. My deepest condolences to the family.

So sad to hear of Kathy´s passing. Her time at the library was so appropriate, given her love of reading. She displayed a lot of courage dealing with a difficult illness. I´m glad we reconnected, and I will miss her.
