Kathleen Hudson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2009.
HUDSON , (Hanterman) Kathleen Isla July 18, 1953 - October 1, 2009 It is with great sadness, the family announces the death of Kathleen Hudson, wife of Al Hudson and mother of Jason and Kimberley (David). Kathi was born July 18, 1953 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She moved to Calgary in 1972. Along with her husband and best friend, Al, she moved to Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico in 1997, which is sixty kilometers north of Puerto Vallarta and spent approximately seven years living there. During this time Kathi met many friends and was very happy to receive her Mexican citizenship. She had a restaurant for a short period of time in Guayabitos and also owned a book and gift store. Due to illness, Kathi and Al found it necessary to return to Canada. Mexico held a special place in her heart and her wish was to someday go back and retire there. Kathi leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Al Hudson, who she loved very much and he proved to be her strength during her struggle with her illness. His love for her was very evident in all he said and did. She is also survived by two children, Jason Hanterman and Kimberley Hanterman (David Cavanagh) and three beautiful grandchildren, Dominik, Kaden and Kaili. She has a sister, Judy Wandler (Jim) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; three nieces, Christa, Rachelle (Sue Weins) and Miranda as well as three nephews, Wade, Justin and Calvin. In addition, Kathi is survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Hudson Kozak (Joe) of Manitou, Manitoba and brother and sister-in-law, Will and Colleen Thiessen of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. Kathi was very fortunate to have her in-laws so involved in her life and care and words cannot adequately express how much their love and care meant during such a difficult time. A special mention of her adopted Mexican family - Juan Avila Flores and his wife Nena Medrano Pena, along with their children - Diana, Juana (Antonio), Katia and Kimberly, Citlalli (Lalli) and Monserrat (Monse). They reside in El Monteon, Nayarit, Mexico and have been a very important part of her life. Kathi was predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Mary McMillan, of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, her sister Sandra Bessette of Calgary and her father-in-law Bob Hudson of Roseisle, Manitoba. Kathi's ex-husband, Bob Hanterman, and his family also survive her. Kathi and her family would like to thank those involved in the excellent care she received over the last few years from her doctors and the Home Care team. Dr. Zul Ramji, family physician for thirty years has been a good friend as well as doctor, Drs. Mark Swain, Kelly Burak, Remo Panaccione, W. Donald Buie, Yolanda Kao and Jonathan Meddings for all their caring and support, Alexis Hunt Everingham, pre-transplant coordinator, for always being there, Jacqui Pinto, palliative care coordinator for Home Care, who went above and beyond the call of duty in her care of Kathi, Debra Carnat, and all the support people within the Home Care system, her family and friends for their listening, caring and support and everyone else involved in the day to day care so necessary at times like this. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to all the compassionate and caring staff at the Rosedale Hospice. When it is our time to go, God is never too late - or too early. Kathi believed this and lived by it. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you sign an organ donor card and encourage others to do the same. Kathi requested no Service or Funeral be held. Cremation will take place.

Kathi, we will miss you very much but I am glad you are now free from the pain you fought for so long. Thank you to Al who was by your side day and night and to Jason and Kim who spent so much time with you. It made me feel beter as I could not be there all the time. Rest in peace dear sister.

Kathi - you smiled right up until the end - even when you couldn't speak, we could tell if something struck you funny. All we hope for you now is that you are at peace now and with those you love. If you are with mom and all the others, come down once in awhile and visit us kids. Every time we eat caviar, we will think of you - we know how much strengh it took you to sit up like that and express your dislike for it. Rest in peace and thank you for the time you shared with us. I was watching you sleep the other day
And prayed that it would last
The peace that rested on your face
I'd never seen in the past

I was watching you speak a while ago
And hoped that you'd go on
The way your words, they had no end
Your Spirit seemed so strong

I was watching you fight the other day
And prayed my tears would dry
All this I knew was done for me
And couldn't figure out why

I was watching you smile a couple of days ago
And stared in total awe
Was it me who made you shine?
Was that triumph that I saw?

And all this time you've waited
And all this time you've helped
And all the things you sacrificed
For me to grow up well

And all the tears you've dried
And all the pain you soothed
And all the truths you have to hide
Without one simple Thank You

But I was watched you the other day
And I realized that I can't wait
To tell you how much I appreciate
And love you in every way.

Mom you were an inspiration to me I only hope that one day, if I have to battle something so hard like you did that I have the courage like you. You will be missed by so many.

I love you.

Your grandbabies love you too, and will miss playing peak a boo!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of Kathy from our childhood. All of them good. I wish we hadnt lived so far apart when we grew up. This has been a sad year for the family with so many losses. Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy.

Our sincere sympathy to Kathi's family. May your faith and memories help you through this sad time. This has been a difficult year for "Kennedy" cousins. Four of the cousins have passed away this year, one of them being my brother, Ron. This is a heart-wrenching time for you, and our thoughts and prayers are with you.....
