Kathleen Hunt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2025.
Kathleen Ann Hunt ( Keefe) passed away on May 10, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 90.

Born on June 1, 1934, in Hammond, Indiana, Kathleen was the daughter of Margaret and Joseph Keefe. She grew up in Hammond and pursued her passion for education at Ball State University, where she earned a master's degree in elementary education. It was there she met Richard D. Hunt, who would become her devoted husband of 68 years.

With warmth and unwavering dedication, Kathleen spent 32 years nurturing young minds as a first-grade teacher at Riley Elementary School within the Hammond school system. Her influence echoed far beyond the classroom walls, shaping generations with patience and care.

In 1998, after a fulfilling career, Kathleen and Richard embraced retirement by moving to Florida. They filled their days with travel adventures, spirited games of bridge, and cherished moments with their beloved grandchildren, near and far.

Kathleen's gentle spirit lives on through her family: her husband Richard; their children David (Jill) and Susan (Steve) grandchildren Bryon (Emilie), Lisa (Tim), Meg (Loewen), Patrick (Monica), and Michael (Jenipher); and great-grandchildren Sam, Sofie, Fiona, Jillian, Quinn, Jonathan, Noah, Gabriel, Reef, and Sunny.

She is reunited in peace with her parents; her sister Jeannie (Crabtree); and many beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service celebrating Kathleen's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Satellite Beach, Florida. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend.

Kathleen's legacy endures in every life she touched-with kindness that bloomed like springtime and devotion that stood steady as stone.

Kathleen's final resting place will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, beside her beloved husband, Richard.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dementia/Alzheimers foundation are appreciated.

What a beautiful woman and so was the life she lived. She was an exceptional woman by just being all that a woman could strive to be in a lifetime - she chose to be educated and then share her skills and talents in education itself. She chose to love and trust with a marriage that lasted 68 years. She chose to sacrifice for her children and at the same time accept all the wonderful gifts of having children. I remember her great sense of humor and confidence. She made her path and lived it and she is deeply loved for just that - being a wonderful woman.

Have so many loving memories of you mom, but one of my favorites is seeing my mom on the phone with your mom and laughing like a middle school girl. Even in their 70´s and 80´s they had fun and shared so many laughs.
My heart and prayers go out to your entire family.
