Kathleen Lee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2024.
Kathleen Louise Lee, known affectionately as Katie, passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 85, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Born on May 1, 1939, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to David James Valko and Caryll Valko, she was a vibrant and indomitable spirit throughout her life.

Katie's journey through life was as colorful and dynamic as her personality. She lived in various states including Michigan, California, Alaska, Oregon, Mississippi, Florida, and finally Arizona, embracing adventures and experiences with open arms. Known for her love of seafood, colorful clothes, and a unique flair for decorating, Katie made every place she lived uniquely hers. Her homes were often adorned with vases, silk flowers, angels, and scarves, each item a testament to her distinct style.

A fighter and survivor, Katie did things her way, right up to her final moments. She was a devout Christian, worshipping at many places and under the guidance of various preachers throughout her life. Her faith was an integral part of her existence, providing strength and solace.

Katie's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her children, Katherine (John) Graham, Del (Karen) Campbell, and Joseph (Kitrina) Cooper; grandchildren, Michael, Casey, SueAnn, Jessica, and Joey; and great-grandchild, Lainey. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Delores, MaryEllen, and William, along with many nieces and nephews, and a special family friend, Gary. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Clifford, David Jr., Robert, Richard, James, and her sisters Linda, Patricia, Sharon, as well as her daughter Julie.

In accordance with her wishes, Katie's body was donated to medical science. A celebration of her life will be held in Michigan at a later date, allowing friends and family to honor her memory and the impact she had on their lives.

I will always remember my Aunt Katie as fun and feisty, always ready to party and have a good time. She came to see us when we lived in Houghton Lake and gave each of us kids a small gold nugget, as she had recently returned from Alaska where she apparently mined for gold! Aunt Katie was always full of surprises and I will miss her and her beautiful smile. Go with happiness into Heaven Aunt Katie, I love you.

Tina Strohmeier., I basically grew up with Katie when my mom, Dolores, and her hung around all the time. Yes she was wild and a little crazy but she was always so good to me.! All these years we have stayed in touch. Her life had its ups and downs. But she always shared Her experiences with me. Believe it or not I still have a crystal in my car that she gave me years and years ago to keep me safe. Thank you Katie for keeping me so safe all these years. I´ve always loved you

When I was in my twenties, and living on my own in a trailer park, Mom used to come by and "sneak" me money. I never asked for it, but she always made sure that I had food to eat and gas in the tank. She had a funny way about showing her love. She was far from an angel, however, I cannot doubt her salvation due to her knowing Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Aunt Katie was considered the "fun Aunt". I have the best memories of her on my farm although the memories continued on for sure after that. Her spunk, smile and liveliness kept me entertained the entire time I was around her. She was a hoot! Loved her. Rest in peace Aunt Katie

My best memory of Aunt Katie was at my farmhouse when she was with Leo. They would come by, and Leo would play his guitar and all of us children would be entertained for the evening. I also have a great memory of her Halloween party when she was with Gary. Aunt Katie was for sure considered the "Fun Aunt" with me and my siblings. We all adored her! Her spunk, her smile and her liveliness kept me amused the entire time when she was around. Rest in peace Aunt Katie

Mom, like Frank Sinatra, lived life "my way" and what a way it was! Rest in peace in the arms of your Jesus and we will meet up again on the other side.
