Kathleen Mariotti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2008.
Kathleen M. Mariotti, 63, of Old Forge died Sunday as a result of complications of her long courageous battle with diabetes.

Her husband is Robert A. Mariotti. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on June 4.

Born and raised in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Kenny Jeffers, Kathleen was a graduate of St. Ann's High School and the Mercy School of Nursing, Scranton. She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her love for God and family was truly evident in all that she did.

Kathleen will be tremendously missed. She was also a devoted pro-life advocate through the Pennsylvanians for Human Life and attended St. Ann's Novena as often as possible.

Also surviving are her two sons, Robert Mariotti Jr. and his wife, Karina; Paul Mariotti and his wife, Dorothy, all of Old Forge; daughter, Kathleen Petty and her husband, David, Clarks Summit; 11 grandchildren; brother, Brian Jeffers and his wife, Mary Ellen, Scranton; father-in-law, Louis S. Mariotti Sr., Old Forge, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Patrick Jeffers; grandson, Peter Mariotti, and mother-in-law, Sistina Augustine Mariotti.

The funeral will be held Thursday with a Panachida service at 9 a.m. from Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, to be followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Church Street, Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. Gary Mensinger and the Rev. Nicholas Kraynak.

Interment will be in parish cemetery, Old Forge.

Friends may call Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Recitation of the rosary will be at 1:30 p.m. Parastas will be held at 6:15 p.m.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Pennsylvanians for Human Life, 506 Broadway St., Scranton; the American Diabetes Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, or Our Father's Divine Work, 13 Fairwood View Court, Phoenix, MD 21131.

To Kathy's Family:

I had the privilege of knowing Kathy
for many, many years of going to
school at St. Ann's. We not only
shared a friendship at school but
also out-of-school. We graduated
the class of 1963 ... 45 yrs., it's hard
to believe!

Kathy always wore a smile and
continued to do so even through
her earthly trials and tribulations
BUT she was truly blessed with a
beautiful family and cherished
friends.

She is at peace and will "always"
watch over you. She is never far
away.

May God bless each and every one
of you.

Most sincerely,

alison saunders

Aunt Kathy was an inspiration to all of us. She was selfless and courageous throughout her life. She was an angel on earth and she will look over all of you in heaven.
She will live on in all of our hearts.

Kathy, You were the sweetest person I have ever had the honor to know. Despite your life long battle with DM I never once heard you complain but instead I was always greeted with a smile and proud stories of your children. I know without a doubt you are finally without pain and with our God. Bobby, Paul and Kathleen, the loss of a mother is never easy but find peace in the complete love she had for you and for the special person she was a special one of a kind angel among us. She will always surround you, your wifes, husband and children with her love that was so obvious when she spoke of you all. God Bless You and help you at this time of your grief. Bob, may
God grant you peace.
